Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Manager, Human Resources is responsible for the provision of overall Human Resources (HR) Services provided by the department within a defined geographic and program structure (client group). The Manager, Human Resources provides leadership and direction to Human Resource team members in the provision of quality HR services. The Manager, Human Resources acts as a member of, trusted advisor and coach to, the client group’s leadership team. This role identifies stated and underlying health human resource needs for the client group and develops talent strategies and solutions, supporting leadership with advice on leadership development, talent management and workforce planning. Participates in the development of goals and objectives, policies and service priorities for the Human Resource team. The Manager, Human Resources Identifies and communicates service needs to the Director, Human Resources, develops and recommends budgets, monitors expenditures, analyses and reports on variances and recommends and implements remedial action. This role builds effective relationships and works closely with other areas of the People portfolio and organizational partners to ensure effective communication and integration and to collaborate on complex issues and process improvement.
Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of Island Health in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelors’ degree in a related discipline such as Human Resources, Business, Industrial Relations, Organizational Development, or related field preferably in a health care setting, plus minimum of seven (7) years’ related experience including two (2) years of people management experience. CHRP designation preferred.

Solid understanding of human resource practices, related legislation and applicable collective agreements.
Skilled in the operation of a personal computer for office applications and Human Resources Information Systems.
Valid BC Drivers License and use of a personal vehicle.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
