Your main role will be to estimate projects: identify those that require more in-depth skills and experience, both for their complexity (critical path, schedule, etc.) and for the value of the project.
•See to obtain the bid bond and know the cost of insurance.
•Understand what the customer wants. Ensure that plans and specifications convey this subtlety.
•Upon receipt of the tender documentation, analyze which plans are to be photocopied and distributed to subcontractors. Analyze projects and engineer working methods as needed in order to facilitate special conditions and reduce costs.
•For each section category, use more than 2 (often 3 to 5) subcontractors for the preparation of a bid. Cconsult your superiors to finalize the list of invited subcontractors.
•Meets with subcontractors to explain the project and distribute plans and specifications for submission. Maintain contact with everyone during the submission process.
•Carefully analyze the plans within the available schedule and contact the architects and engineers on file if necessary to obtain clarifications and corrections (addendum). Manage the clarifications and corrections initiated by engineers and architects. Redistribute corrected plans to subcontractors.
•Make quantity surveys from the plans – materials – equipment – hours of work – for the purpose of controlling bids.
•Visit future sites and specify with a representative of the owner of the premises or the client the conditions of completion of the project
•Pick up the bids at the BSDQ.
•Analyze bids and determine subcontractors based on BSDQ criteria.
•Analyze submissions from other subcontractors and identify selected partners for the project.
•Determine a timeline.
•Close the submission with a price recommendation to the customer.
•Meet with superiors to discuss the content of the bid to finalize the prices and schedule.
Experience and knowledge:
•Relevant College Degree (building, architecture, etc.)
•Minimum construction experience of 3 years and more
•Experience in commercial construction
•Knowledge of an estimating software
•Ability to work overtime if required
•Spoken and written bilingualism (French and English)
•Interpersonal skills to visit construction sites
