Calendar: 10 Month Traditional
Salary: Staff Association Grade F, $29.20 to $38.32 per hour
FTE: 0.8571, 30 hours per week
The successful candidate will be supporting a male student diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and will be required to demonstrate proven success in deflecting, re-directing and supporting severe emotional and behavioral outbursts. This may include physical aggression, in addition to challenging non-verbal responses to triggers caused by emotional and cognitive challenging tasks. Experience with severe behaviours is critical to this position.
The successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team including education assistants, specialists, strategists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech language pathologists and psychologists. Additionally, the successful candidate should be familiar with visual communication systems, visual prompts/schedule, and self-regulation strategies.
