Director of Admissions
We are looking for an energetic and performance-driven Director of Admissions who will recruit new students for Fulford Academy and lead our Admissions team. Through direct student acquisition efforts, working with local and international agencies, the Director of Admissions will be responsible for achieving new student and start rate plans for the team.
About Fulford Academy
Fulford Academy is a coeducational, private day/boarding school located in Brockville, Ontario, Canada; home of the famous 1000 Islands on the majestic St. Lawrence River. Established in 2002, Fulford Academy offers Grades 6 to 12 and synchronous online education, leading to the renowned OSSD – Ontario Secondary School Diploma. We offer specialized programs including a Dual High School Diploma program, ESL Prep, University Prep, Summer Programs, and Camps.
Our individualized approach to learning includes highly differentiated instruction, and an emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Arts (STEM+A) to ensure competitive admission to global educational institutions. What will you do?
Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Director of Admissions will provide a positive company culture and stellar results for Fulford Academy. With the primary purpose of meeting or exceeding new student enrolment targets for all programs, management of the admissions team, and ensuring that students are provided with the support and assistance they need to succeed during their studies, the Director of Admissions will provide prospective students the best possible chance of success in achieving their academic goals and aspirations.
The Director of Admissions will proactively develop and maintain strong partnerships with key external stakeholders who can channel new students to Fulford. This role is also involved as a contributor to Fulford’s marketing/business development activities designed to increase Fulford’s external profile.
The Director of Admissions will oversee hiring of admissions staff, maintain staffing plans, and oversees and assists in the training, development, motivation, and ongoing management of the team.
The Director of Admissions is the key admissions department member within Fulford who is passionate about hitting targets and at the same time providing consistent, dedicated service to students at the time of enrolment, setting them on the best possible path for success. The leadership aspect of the job entails working with others in the admissions department, helping others understand admissions best practices, student engagement and effective techniques of student care.
What do you need to have?
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field
- Seven years of increasingly responsible experience managing a sales effort, particularly admissions recruitment, with K-12 experience preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively as either a leader or as a member of a team and work collaboratively with other departments
- Strong work ethic and impeccable trustworthiness
- Ability to work well in a constantly evolving organization
- Superior organizational and problem resolution skills
- Understanding of MS Office products – particularly Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
Some of the duties will include:
- Achieve the new student plans for assigned team.
- Assist the Chief Development Officer in establishing and forecasting plans and class outcomes.
- Oversee hiring of admissions staff, maintaining staffing plans, and oversees and assists in the training, development, motivation, and ongoing management of such staff including quarterly reviews; new hire and veteran training; ongoing observations; turnover prevention via training and support provided.
- Responsible for conversions of inquiry to applicant, applicant to new student and for local inquiry generation and database marketing
- Generate marketing plans to support inquiry conversion and applicant lock-in and ensures compliance with all school standards, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in training and development of the Admissions team to ensure their overall success.
