The Role

Think Research Corporation is seeking an experienced and energetic Controller, who will fit into a fun and fast paced environment as a hands-on leader in the organization. Reporting to the VP Finance and working closely with the CFO and business line leaders, this position will direct a team in overseeing the financial reporting related functions for multiple entities.

You Will Have The Opportunity To

• Lead and develop a team of staff and senior accountants
• Act as the finance lead to business line leaders to support their financial objectives.
• Manage all accounting and internal control functions for multiple company entities
• Lead the month-end closing, including variance analysis, and preparation of interim financial statements and management reports on a timely basis
• Support the annual financial audit and quarterly financial reviews
• Act as a key technical accounting resource on areas of judgmental accounting matters including revenue recognition and deferred revenue, and project-based revenue contracts
• Proactively monitor accounts payable and receivable, and ensure ongoing and timely collection and payment of all amounts owing, including debt repayments
• Work with the staff accountant(s) to ensure the timely preparation and filing of HST/VAT and Corporate Income Tax Returns as required

What You Will Bring

• A bachelors’ degree in commerce or accounting and a CPA from public practice
• 3+ years of progressive, hands-on experience in public companies reporting under IFRS
• Strong knowledge of IFRS accounting rules
• Exposure to M&A, multi-currencies, multi-subsidiary consolidation
• Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
• Strong communication skills
• Experience in the software or technology sectors
• Public accounting experience
• Understanding of and experience with C-SOX controls and required documentation
• Experience with high growth and/or highly acquisitive companies
• Advanced knowledge of Canadian tax rules and regulations
• Familiarity with Sage Intacct, Shareworks and/or Certify would be an asset
