ABOUT DIGITAL HEALTH AND RDO
The Digital Health Team is responsible for the strategic digital health projects that our external healthcare customers require, with a focus on Hospital Information Systems, Electronic Medical Records, and major business system transformation. The Digital Health team works closely with the other teams in the RDO department, and with SSW’s Non-Clinical Sourcing team to ensure seamless coordination for IT-related procurements and projects.
The Digital Health team resides within the Redevelopment, Data, and Operational Readiness (RDO) department, which consists of five core teams: 1) Digital Health, 2) Redevelopment, 3) Data Management, 4) Business Intelligence, and 5) Operational Readiness. RDO teams work closely together to provide support to external customers with high-value, complex projects, as well as with day-to-day support with supply chain data.
THE ROLE AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Manager, Digital Health reports to the Director, RDO, and is responsible for delivering on the team’s strategic objectives, supporting SSW’s key priorities related to digital health, and ensuring that the Digital Health team achieves their personal best performance with exceptional service to our healthcare customers. The Manager, Digital Health is a leader who strives for excellence with an engaging and inclusive management style.
The primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Management
- Provide day-to-day oversight of a team of diverse resources (may include Specialist(s), Associate(s), Project Manager(s), and Coordinator(s)) who support multiple overlapping projects with external customers
- Serve as a member of the RDO and SSW Leadership Teams while actively developing and supporting strategic plans, annual priority initiatives, and the evolution of SSW
- Develop relationships with the collective SSW Leadership Team to ensure a highly engaged and cohesive team
- Develop strong vendor relations and understanding of vendor market for major clinical and business systems
- Develop and maintain subject matter expertise around the evolving trends in digital health procurements and major system renewals
- Analyze and pro-actively seeking opportunities for new business development opportunities
- Support the Director of RDO in developing SSW’s growth pipeline and ensure any risks or opportunities are being communicated
- Establish, monitor, and hold accountability for team key performance indicators, including staff on-time performance, data quality being recorded in various SSW systems, customer satisfaction, and compliance with Broader Public Sector Procurement Directives (BPSPD)
Compliance
- Maintain BPSPD compliance of duties performed by the Digital Health team for all public procurements
- Maintain document retention and ensure a high degree of data integrity
Human Resources
- Recruit staff in collaboration with the Human Resources department
- Assist and mentor staff in achieving personal objectives and creating career development plans
- Review and manage staff performance including regular one-on-one touch points
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education
- University undergraduate degree in business, healthcare management, or a related field
- Master’s degree in business, healthcare management, or a related field is an asset
- Mediation/negotiation training is an asset
- CSCMP, SCMA, or PMP is an asset
- Conflict resolution training is an asset
Work Experience
- Seven (7) years of relevant experience leading complex procurements or projects, preferably in a healthcare environment.
- Demonstrated experience with the following:
- – Managing BPSPD-compliant RFx processes from start to finish;
- – Leading large regional projects and working with diverse teams;
- – Using and/or implementing IT systems and modules in a healthcare setting
- – Mentoring/leading a multi-disciplinary team through a project;
- – Facilitating multiple projects of various sizes at one time.
Knowledge and Understanding
- Strong project management skills
- Knowledge of RFP & contract law is a strong asset
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure and digital health solutions is an asset
Technical Skills
- Strong computer skills required (Microsoft Office applications), including advanced Excel.
- Familiarity with online RFx posting sites (e.g., Bonfire) is an asset.
- Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Monday.com) is an asset.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Office location – Burlington, Ontario, Canada, with a flexible remote work from home opportunity
- Office hours are generally 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (with some flexibility), Monday to Friday.
