Reporting to the Manager, Technical Accounting and External Reporting, contribute to the quarterly and annual close process by assisting in the development and drafting of the external financial statements, including the statement of cash flows, footnotes for various areas reported in the document, Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) and all the respective supporting schedules. This is a hybrid position as we would like this position to be on site for training and meetings as needed.

What you will do:

• Preparation of the quarterly and annual disclosure checklist
• Working with business partners to evaluate transactions and balances to ensure they are properly recorded in the financial statements in accordance with IFRS/TSX requirements, as applicable
• Performing special projects and analysis as directed by finance management, including evaluation of exposure drafts for potential impact on the company, leading in drafting any potential responses to the exposure drafts, providing technical accounting guidance in implementation of new systems or processes, interfacing with business partners to develop various projects, and M&A diligence/integration
• Maintain the company’s lease portfolio, including producing monthly financial statements and quarter and year end disclosures
• Assisting in the development of accounting structures and controls needed for the financial reporting business process
• Assisting with the year-end (YE) external consolidated audit
• Assisting with C-SOX compliance in the areas of control documentation and enforcement
• Preparation of detailed planning, project calendar & meeting agendas
• Assisting in the creation and updating of documented desk manual procedures

What you will need:

• Designation as a CPA, or CPA in-progress
• 3-5 years total experience including public accounting experience
• Familiarity with IFRS, C-SOX/SOX compliance, the quarterly/annual close process including tie-out of financial statements/MD&A, technical research, and US GAAP standards
• Experience in IFRS conversions
• Proficient with and adaptable to technology tools (eg Netsuite, Microsoft Word/Excel, webfiling software)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to concisely communicate project status and key issues for management attention
• Critical thinker, detail-oriented with growth mindset
• Ability to perform within tight deadlines
• Ability to work globally and cross-functionally to obtain all relevant facts and articulate accounting conclusions reached
• Ability to work well independently as well as within a team setting
