Cox Automotive Looking for Accountant (Contract) at Greater Toronto Area, ON Full Time

Reporting to the National Controller, this position is responsible for various accounting functions including Cash Management, Balance Sheet reconciliation, Income Statement account review, General Ledger, Tax Compliance, and Internal Controls. It also will serve as a financial partner within Cox’s Enterprise Accounting department by providing reconciliation and analysis assistance. This position will be expected to gain a detail understanding of several P&L and balance sheet accounts and an understanding of the source of the data in those accounts

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist in managing assigned accounts, records and reports in compliance with established accounting policies and procedures (GAAP).
• Assist in process to reconcile Balance Sheet accounts monthly and submit full package for compliance review quarterly
• Calculate, prepare, and enter various current journal entries and month end journal entries into the GL
• Support National Controller and Assistant Controller in month end preparation, review, and analysis
• Extract and manipulate large quantities of data as backup for invoicing
• Partner with various market level support teams (i.e. Finance, HR, Recon, Safety, Security, Sales) to ensure effective and efficient operational processes that align with company objectives and strategies and high quality customer service and support
• Document policy, practices and procedures for all tasks and responsibilities. Additionally, assist in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities and procedures relating to accounting.
• Work on special projects and prepare ad hoc reports and analysis as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned by management
• Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such. Work in cooperation with safety leadership in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence

Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
• 3 – 5 years accounting experience required. CPA candidates preferred
• Experience in the automobile industry, software or the auction business preferred
• Experience with a shared service centre environment preferred. Bilingual candidates (French) preferred
• Experience with Oracle, Fast Lane and Microsoft Office preferred
• Proficient in using Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Skilled in creating spreadsheets and reports in MS Excel
• Strong communication (written and verbal) and interaction skills required
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to quickly develop strong working relationships and maintain effectiveness in changing working relationships
• Ability to quickly assess issues and relevant information to make effective decisions
• Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
• Vision abilities required include close, distance, color, and depth perception
