How will I make an impact?
As the Product Marketing Manager, reporting to the Director of Marketing, you will develop effective marketing strategies and communication plans that will bring the value of a line of products to the market. This position will interface primarily with our marketing team and technical product managers, in addition to our sales, development, and customer support teams.
Within your first 30 days, you will spend time with our product, customer success, sales, and marketing teams to learn how our product works, how our customers use it, the problems that it solves, and who cares about solving those problems. You will start to understand our current sales motions and uncover the challenges experienced by our sellers, then champion your recommendations for sales enablement and messaging improvements. You will also study our marketing plan and get involved with the execution of campaigns and programs. Additionally, you will audit our marketing and sales materials and those of our competitors to recommend ways to help Shinydocs stand out in the market.
Day in the Life:
Be the Expert on Our Market and Our Competitors – Know how unstructured data management impacts the markets that we sell into and how competitors are positioned in those markets. Stay up-to-date on market trends, regulations, and competitive offerings and enable our marketers and sellers to capture opportunities and respond to threats.
Know Our Buyers and Their Buying Criteria – Continually refine and validate our ideal customer profile by interviewing customers, collecting and analyzing sales cycle and win/loss data, and collaborating with our customer engagement managers and product managers to define best fit customer characteristics. Know where they get their information and define their buying criteria at each stage of the buying process and use that intel to influence our go-to-market strategy.
Write Compelling Product Positioning and Messaging – Work closely with the product team to ensure our offerings are well positioned for each of our target markets and write compelling messaging that highlights our differentiated value. Articulate the business value of different product use cases and use them to enable demand generation, web content, and talk tracks.
Own the Go-To-Market Strategy and Plan – Ensure that our go-to-market strategy is aligned and meeting goals across product, marketing, sales, and customer success. Monitor metrics and propose changes that will improve our success and work with teams to implement your required changes. Plan product launches and new feature introductions, set goals and timelines, and manage the cross-functional implementation of your plan.
Collaborate with Marketing to Create, Support, and Execute Plans – Contribute creative ideas and subject matter expertise to marketing planning meetings. Champion unique and innovative ways to communicate our value propositions to better capture attention and interest. Support marketing execution with messaging, market and prospect intelligence, and review of materials.
Understand and Support our Sales Channels – Create a feedback loop with our sellers to train on the problems we solve for our customers and then collect frontline feedback to continually refine talk tracks, make adjustments to positioning and messaging, and feed insights to our product and marketing teams. Develop internal tools and external collateral as well as teach the sales team how and when to use them.
