ABOUT PARKDALE ACTIVITY RECREATION CENTRE (PARC)
Since 1980, PARC’s mission has been to create “a community where people rebuild their lives”. Our dedicated team works collaboratively with over 30 other agencies across the Greater Toronto Area to effectively support Members on individual issues of poverty, mental health, problematic substance use, homelessness, and food security. At PARC, Members access services and develop relationships with our employees, and one another, through five main areas of operation: Drop-In Centre, Peer Support Program, Outreach Program, Supportive Housing and Community Engagement.
OPPORTUNITY
The Finance Assistant works closely with the Finance Manager to coordinate daily financial tasks, process invoices, support payroll, manage or create financial records, and maintain physical and digital filing of financial documents. An excellent team player, the successful candidate needs to be service-oriented with a strong background in AR, processing vendor payments, and account analysis.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated and responsible and has strong organizational and analytical skills. Experience working in a community-based non-profit setting will be considered an asset.
This is a full-time onsite position and the employee is expected to work from the office 5 days a week.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Processes daily transactions in NewViews accounting software
· Maintains complete and accurate supporting documentation
· Administers and performs accounting for PARC’s Voluntary Trustee program
· Prepares and processes payables, receivables, withdrawals, and deposits
· Accountable for twice weekly banking trips for withdrawals and deposits
· Tracks petty cash, credit card, staff reimbursement reconciliations and payments
· Receives, processes, and records residential and commercial rent payments
· Calculates geared-to-income rent contribution amounts for housing Member tenants.
· Collaborates with Housing Admin to ensure that all documentation related to geared to income units is collected and processed in a timely manner.
· Reconciles donation revenue monthly.
· Inputs data to property management and donor software
· Prepares reports and schedules from accounting, and other software, programs as required
· Maintains electronic and paper filing systems
· Assists with input of payroll data, payroll processing, and associated remittances
· Contributes to a healthy, engaging, and safe workplace.
· Works collaboratively and effectively with a multi-disciplinary team to support the attainment of high work quality standards and performance expectations
· Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
· A minimum of two (2) years’ experience pertinent to role functions – accounting, payables/receivables, data input and reconciliations.
· Demonstrated proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications is required with a preference for applicants with intermediate MS Excel skills including conditional formatting and pivot tables.
· Effective organizational and time management skills – must be able to handle multiple tasks and work to frequent, tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
· Proven ability to work independently on projects and demonstrate flexibility for changing priorities
· Sound judgement and ability to handle matters of a confidential, political and/or sensitive nature with discretion and tact.
· Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
· Reliability, accuracy, thoroughness, and excellent attention to detail are a must
· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate both written and orally with internal and external stakeholders
· Strong understanding of and commitment to working within community development, anti-oppression, and anti-racist frameworks, including current issues and trends and the role that community-based organizations contribute to local neighbourhoods.

· Base salary of $43,594.00 – $50,466.00 (based on qualifications)
