CVL Engineers Inc. is a professional engineering firm headquartered in Edmonton. We offer a wide range of civil, structural, and geotechnical consulting, and design services related to residential commercial and infrastructure. Right now, we are looking for a full-time structural engineer to join our Edmonton team. While what you know is an asset, we are more concerned with you being a good fit. The successful person will work independently to support our clients and their continued success.
Responsibilities (the technical bit)
- Perform the structural design and analysis of various structures, from preliminary to final stages.
- Knowledge and experience of precast concrete, traditional concrete, steel, and timber design
- Provide sketches for CAD designers and review CAD drawings
- Perform engineering calculations and assessments for structures compiled of various materials.
- Visualize and create the necessary details pertinent to the development of design plans and shop drawings for various products.
- Prepare construction specifications.
- Prepare technical reports and calculation packages.
- Perform complex structural engineering tasks efficiently and accurately.
- Provide quality control of all design and drafting work associated with assigned projects.
- Review and interpret client’s geotechnical report, borehole logs, etc.
- Conduct inspections of project sites and prepare detailed reports.
- Liaise with customers during design and construction.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Post-secondary Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution is required.
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in engineering and design.
- Experience with Structural analysis using software. (e.g. S-Frame, etc)
- Possession of a Professional Engineering designation in a Canadian Province or Territory is required.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and own vehicle
