We are growing and seeking a seasoned, hands-on, cross-functional CFO who will help us manage continued rapid growth. You will report directly to the CEO and be a vital member of the Company’s leadership team. You will be accountable for handling investment portfolios, capital markets, and financial and risk management operations; this includes the development of a financial and operational strategy. In addition, you will work alongside other C-Suite team members and take ownership of all of our fiscal, compliance, and regulatory matters.
To succeed in this role, you must have experience raising capital in a key financial capacity within an audited technology or software engineering company; experience in financial capital markets and/or private equity is an asset for this role.
What you will do:
- Work with the CEO to identify and secure funding for the Company’s ongoing, long-term operational needs.
- Working alongside the CEO, define and implement the Company’s strategic vision in developing new business opportunities and securing funds to achieve organizational objectives.
- Establish financial and strategic goals for the Company and own the process of investing strategies to meet business objectives and optimize the capital structure (debt and equity), tax, legal structure, regulatory, and securities reporting requirements.
- Foster and cultivate stakeholder relationships, including the investment community.
- Work alongside the Executive team to lead the fundraising activities (structuring, due diligence, investor roadshows, business model) and reach a financial close.
- Prepare quarterly variance analysis of the year-to-date actual versus budget results for the Senior Management Team to ensure compliance with the operating budget.
- Ensure the business appropriately manages risk and insurance; identify and address financial risks and opportunities.
- Oversee the finance & accounting staff responsible for all purchasing, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable and reports to funding agencies.
- Ensure adequate cash flow to meet the Company’s day-to-day needs.
- Accomplishes finance human resource strategies by determining accountabilities; communicating and enforcing values, policies, and procedures; implementing recruitment, selection, orientation, training, coaching, counselling, disciplinary, and communication programs; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; and planning and reviewing compensation strategies.
- Responsible for the supervision, guidance and overall smooth operations of operations, including the Accounting and HR Departments.
What you must have:
- Significant fundraising experience of 50 million or more.
- Proven ability to raise capital and work with investors.
- Prior experience as a VP of Finance / CFO with a demonstrated track record of successfully scaling an organization.
- Experience within the Software Technology and Engineering industries.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Capable of presenting complex financial information in an easy-to-understand format. Able to interact comfortably with the executive management team.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, or an MBA, with a CPA / CFA designation.
- Minimum of 10 years of senior management experience in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, preferably in the technology industry.
- Proven leadership skills and strong organization, analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong financial and accounting background, including an understanding of profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow management, and general finance and budgeting.
Your compensation:
- Annual salary in the range of $200,000-240,000 CAD depending on experience
