The Talent Manager is an HR Leader who is responsible for translating the Read Jones Christoffersen (“RJC”) corporate objectives to develop and execute the Talent Acquisition and Talent Management strategy and to support the company’s long-term talent needs. This role is for someone who has experience or exposure in building talent programs in talent acquisition as well as performance management, succession planning, high potential identification, employment brand, new hire orientation and talent retention. SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES


Talent Acquisition

  • Develop and execute RJC’s Talent Acquisition strategy to ensure recruitment objectives are met with the best talent and implement non-traditional sourcing methods for hard-to-fill roles
  • Develop and manage the candidate experience from the first point of contact to the offer acceptance stage
  • Develop, implement, and manage best-in-class recruitment programs and practices to build a strong candidate pipeline
  • Plan recruitment events, engineering career fairs, and information sessions to engage talent pool and build a strong candidate pipeline
  • Monitor and analyse key Talent Acquisition metrics and identify innovative and creative strategies to address challenges
  • Experience in developing leading and implementing people focused initiatives and core talent strategies across a national organization

Talent Management

  • Develop an adaptable and agile culture for Talent Management
  • Collaborate and build consensus with senior management, enabling them to meet their Talent Management objectives by providing appropriate strategy, tools and materials
  • Enable the HR Partners by arming them with credible talent programs updated with fresh thinking and creative ideas
  • Create and maintain processes for competency-based role profiles and their deployment across the organization
  • Define and measure key performance indicators to demonstrate the effectiveness and impact of core Talent Management practices.

Business Capabilities

  • Develop and manage a Talent Acquisition and Management strategy and annual plan which aligns with RJC’s Strategic Plan
  • Build an annual Talent Acquisition and Management budget which is in concert with the overall Human Resources budget for RJC
  • Highly competent in Human Resources and Talent Management theory and practice
  • Provide advice, guidance, and consultation to internal and external stakeholders on the application of internal policies and processes related to Talent Acquisition and Management
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with a broad set of stakeholders
  • Research industry trends to support RJC’s talent needs and ensure all talent programs are based in diversity, equity, and inclusion principles


Education & Experience

  • Degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Ten (10) years experience in a talent acquisition or similar role in a corporate setting
  • Five (5) plus years of experience working in a leadership role
  • Experience building and delivering people-centric programs that have impact across a complex organization;
  • Demonstrated ability to create and present materials in an effective and pragmatic manner;
  • Proficient project management skills with a focus on managing multiple priorities and delivering on-time high-quality results;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems, including UKG software considered a strong asset
  • Strong understanding of Canadian employment labour laws
