Human Resources/Labour Relations Advisor

Location: St. John’s, NL
Reporting to a Team Lead, the HR/LR Advisor will build and develop effective relationships with employees and management as you provide guidance on HR related policies and issues. You will have the opportunity to exercise a high level of personal initiative and judgement as you support the delivery of HR initiatives and services including performance management, employee development, training, recruitment and retention, workforce planning, and diversity and inclusion to your client groups. You will be accountable for advising employees, supervisors and managers on general employment and labour relations matters such as conflict resolution, investigations, and collective agreement and policy interpretation. You will also work closely with other members of the Human Resources team to ensure alignment on initiatives within your client groups and to steward to Hydro’s values. To be successful in this role you must have the ability to develop and foster a relationship of mutual respect with diverse individuals, work collaboratively to review and recommend improvement opportunities, and be a strong proponent of change management best practices.
Job Requirements:
You have graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce or Business Administration degree with a specialization in Human Resources and/or Industrial Relations, and a minimum of five (5) years’ related experience. A Master of Business Administration/Master of Employment Relations or CPHR designation would be an asset.
You must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to manage and prioritize competing demands for your time. Communication is key. We look forward to hearing how you use software such as Microsoft Office to ensure your messages and analysis are understood. Your experience with taking initiative along with a demonstrated ability to identify, analyze and resolve complex situations will be key assets. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
