THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a Senior Estimator to join our multifamily construction team. This role is located in Vancouver and reports to the Principal. The Senior Estimator will perform a wide variety of duties including but not limited to:
Performing and taking ownership of estimates and completing final tenders while capturing trade scopes and ensuring that all components have been included. Such general tasks include performing detailed analysis of construction contracts to understand scope requirements, preparing compliant budget and tender proposals, and reviewing bid documents and performing bid-day responsibilities to close various scopes.
Understanding project-specific requirements and risks associated with internal and external conditions, conducting conceptual quantity take-offs regarding construction management and design build opportunities, and demonstrating a clear understanding of proposal process requirements and responsibilities.
Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement by actively participating in quality assurance meetings and always challenging the status quo with the objective of delivering the same or better quality faster or at a lower cost.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience and Education
Minimum 5 years of experience in construction cost estimating
Experience using takeoff systems, self-perform estimates, general expense philosophy, conversing with trades, and familiarity with different delivery methods such as hard bid, design build, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
High energy with a positive attitude
Well-developed written and oral communications skills
Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships
Clear understanding of construction contract terms to identify risks and opportunities
Clear understanding of business trends, market conditions, and industry
Demonstrates solid judgement regarding sensitive information
Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
Proficient with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
Experience using estimating software
