Position Title
Financial Services Technician – Term Certain
Position Summary
The Finance team at Red Deer Polytechnic welcomes you to join them in a term-certain position until June 30, 2023.
The Financial Services (Accounting) Technician assist with provides accounting, budgeting and purchasing support to Financial Services and other internal & external stakeholders. The Financial Services Technician is responsible for assisting with the preparation and input into the financial system of various journal entries and budget entries, maintaining various financial schedules for projects, completing account reconciliations and other accounting related tasks.
Position Responsibilities
- Inputs various journal entries into the GL and reconciles GL accounts
- Assists with preparing and loading project related budget entries into the GL. approved budgets as required
- Assists with the preparation of various financial schedules for monitoring project progress.
- Completes various account reconciliations and follows up on outstanding items.
- Reviews, monitors, and tracks purchase requests to ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures and regulations
- Processes purchase orders and provides documentation to vendor and internal departments.
- Works with other finance staff to respond to questions from other departments regarding FOAP’s, policies and financial information.
- Assists with the preparation of various financial reports to Government of Alberta
- Assists with the preparation of other working papers and schedules for auditory purposes.
- Assist with preparation of other financial information supporting general accounting and procurement teams.
Required Qualifications
- Two years post secondary training; completion of a college certificate in Business Administration and Commerce
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Proficient with using Microsoft Office and experience working with integrated financial systems
- Effective organization and time management skills
- Strong written and communication skills

Benefits and Compensation Information
An additional 15% of the hourly rate in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and benefits.
