The Compensation Specialist is responsible for leading the development, execution and monitoring of total reward sprograms and initiatives in alignment with sector and company strategies and priorities. Reporting to the Manager,Total Rewards this role requires an individual who thrives on challenge, is analytical and organized with a passionfor HR and Total Rewards data, with a proven track record of successfully partnering with stakeholders at all levelsof the of the organization, to position PCL as an employer of choice.
Here’s how a Compensation Specialist for our Edmonton NAHQ office contributes to our team:
Responsibilities
- Conducts research and analysis in different areas involving compensation, such as compensation statistics and market analysis.
- Collaborates to provide support to the district and regional HR teams with position description documentation, and job evaluations for new and updated positions.
- Administers job evaluation process ensuring compliance with established procedures.
- Operates as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the HR team, providing education, analysis and other support as needed.
- Assists with the administration of the annual compensation review including salary and short-term incentive components.
- Performs benefits-related trend and other statistical analysis, review and interpret results, and make recommendations based on findings.
- Ensures internal documentation (guides, FAQs, forms, etc.) is relevant, current and easily accessible by all applicable staff.
- Provides support to employees with benefits and pension related queries.
- Performs for annual pension reporting and filing.
- Assists with the administration and implementation of employee benefits and pension programs, while providing guidance to other HR team members.
- Produces monthly/quarterly/annual reports for a variety of internal audiences.
- Provides support and backup to team members as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum college diploma or university degree in business or human resources.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in total rewards.
- CPHR, CCP, CEBS designations would be an asset.
- Experience within complex, matrix organizations would be an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills including database tools, pivot tables, lookup, logical and statistical functions.
- Knowledge of what information is confidential and the discretion required.
- Strong communication skills: verbal/non-verbal, written, presentation.
- Detail oriented.
- Strong organizational skills; ability to manage competing priorities, project deadlines, and clients.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Excellent analytical skills.
