WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Director of People & Culture (the Director) is a key leader in LutherCare Communities (LCC), partnering with other LCC leaders to achieve the organizational priorities and goals. Reporting to the Chief People Officer (CPO), the Director is responsible for contributing to the development of strategy by articulating gaps and needs. The Director supports strategy by developing and executing operational plans, including cascading, monitoring, reporting, and course correction. The Director demonstrates strong leadership to enable an innovative and positive working climate in a resident-first culture. The Director works within the division and cross-functionally to support corporate and operational activities in the organization. The Director works closely with funding agencies and other external partners.

• Develop and lead a skilled and engaged team
• Strategic oversight of recruitment, retention, job design, workforce analytics, onboarding, student programs, people engagement, organizational culture, people wellness, people rewards and recognition and pre-employment programs.
• Provides oversight and guidance to enhance employment diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization.
• Lead collaboratively in non-union and union environments, including respecting and working within the terms and conditions of collective agreements.
• Oversight of the People Relations strategy including performance management, terminations, attendance management, return to work, and investigations.
• Leads the collective bargaining process, support the division to interpret, communication and follow the Collective Bargaining Agreement where applicable.
• Oversight of organizational learning management system.
• Support the organization with the development and implementation of Health & Safety policies and practices, adhering to relevant legislation to maintain physical and psychological safety in the workplace.
• Strategic oversight of payroll processes for the organization
• Collaborate with the Finance division to ensure completion of administration and processing of payroll including timesheets, pension, new hire and position development, calculations and disbursements, deductions, T4s, ROEs

4. Analysis and Use of Information:

• Develop funding proposals, negotiating, and monitoring contracts and project management.
• Ensure consistent total compensation and Terms and Conditions of employment as part of initial employment offers.
• Direct research into best practices in Talent planning, indicator development and makes recommendations to the CPO to incorporate into provincial strategies and policies.
• Develop, evaluate, and oversee the administration of employee engagement philosophy and strategy.

5. Reporting – Prepare Reports to the CPO using qualitative and quantitative date. Prepare and deliver reports to Executive Leadership Team, Operational Leadership Team, and management teams in support of a cross-functional team.
