This position works from the Addiction and Mental Health Community Clinic located at the Brooks Health Center in Brooks Alberta. The Mental Health Therapist works with all age groups in a community setting. Brooks Addiction and Mental Health Community Clinic has an exciting opportunity for an energetic and dynamic individual to work as a Mental Health Therapist – Generalist. As a Mental Health Therapist (generalist), you will be required to perform the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention utilizing a variety of treatment approaches to children and adults experiencing concurrent disorders or mental health issues.
As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of masters degree in Psychology; or masters degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or masters or bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or masters degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college
Additional Required Qualifications:
Individuals who may be considered will demonstrate one of the following: Related master’s degree (ie: Counselling Psychology) which includes: training and established experience in mental health assessment and provision of counselling/psychotherapy. Registered or proven eligibility to be registered with one of the regulatory colleges: ACOT, ACSW, CAP, CLPNA, CRNA or CRPNA Bachelor’s degree in social work, including: training and established experience in mental health assessment, provision of psychotherapy, and with (individual or under supervision authorization to perform restricted psychosocial intervention. Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy. Diploma or bachelor’s degree in nursing with training and previous experience in mental health assessment and provision of counselling/psychotherapy. For this position only: bachelor’s degree in social work or equivalent is applicable, if combined with previous experience in addiction and mental health counselling.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in Addiction and Mental Health or equivalent services is preferred.
