Operating 24/7, the Pre and Post Analytics department plays a key role in the delivery of customer focused laboratory services and is vital to the operation of the laboratory. As a team member in this fast-paced environment, you will utilize skills in data entry, specimen processing, communication and customer service.
Major Functions and Responsibilities
- Plan and organize your work responsibilities and processes to perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures which include:
- Receiving, sorting and validating patient specimens
- Accurate transcription of patient demographics and tests into the laboratory information system
- Labelling specimens and requisitions
- Answering telephone inquiries and transferring calls
- Scanning, operating and maintaining laboratory equipment.
- Preparing specimens for transfer/referral
- Assisting with the training of staff and students as required
Required Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Keyboarding skills and basic computer knowledge
- Must be thorough, accurate and detail oriented
Required Experience
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of laboratory experience
- Current experience working in Specimen Processing/Pre and Post Analytics is an asset.
Minimum Qualifications
- Successful completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant training program or equivalent
