SUMMARY :
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for the procurement of commodities, supplies, equipment, and services to be used in a fabrication environment. The procurement specialist coordinates their efforts with manufacturing, engineering, project management, and production staff to support the production schedule and maintain the appropriate inventory level. Work collaboratively and support the sales/applications department during the client bidding stage. This individual will utilize expert knowledge to purchase goods and services that meet quality requirements and specifications at the most favorable price for the company, while simultaneously building and maintaining strategic relationships with key suppliers.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares and issues purchase orders in accordance with company policy, project SCM procedures and contractual terms and conditions
Orders materials and services as per negotiated and approved agreements
Reviews all invoices relating to the purchase of major equipment and services
Provides recommendations on continuous improvement opportunities
Contributes towards the achievement of personal and departmental goals.
Establish, track and evaluate costs, benefits, and performance criteria for procurement and inventory control activities
Management of inventory in ERP: Reservations, Transfers, Returns
Identify vendors of materials, equipment, or services
Review and process claims against suppliers
Establish delivery schedules, monitor progress, and contact suppliers to resolve issues
Maintain an extensive database for all orders that are up to date and provides information for analysis and reporting
Research and survey buying markets in order to source the most optimal suppliers, in accordance with corporate objectives
Prepare and administer RFx documents
Define RFx evaluation criteria and prepare Recommendations to Award
Advise departments and business units of the lead time required to obtain products or services
Make alternate arrangements in the event of shortages or delayed deliveries to minimize the impact on the organization
Support and mentor team members to enhance and/or develop skills
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation or similar designation
Working experience in the fabrication/assembly or service industry is preferred
ERP user experience, specifically in Navison (NAV)
Experience with reading and understanding AutoCAD drawings is preferred
Post-Secondary Education or 4 years relevant experience
7+ years progressive experience in an procurement role
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
Exceptional oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders
Strong writing skills for creating reports, correspondence, RFx, contracts & other documentation
Knowledge of the appropriate tools for grading, analyzing, and assessing materials, equipment, supplies, services, and other commodities
Strong analytical and interpretive skills
Work experience in international purchasing preferred
Demonstrated work experience of successful JIT management is preferred
Knowledge of local and global markets for the industry
Excellent time management organizational, and prioritization skills
Microsoft Windows operating systems; Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
