Pricing and Contract Manager, Canada
This is what you will do:
This role will be responsible for monitoring the local and global pricing environment to ensure pricing compliance across the Alexion Rare disease business unit (RDBU). This position will play a foundational role in contract term design, implementation, reconciliation, and monitoring to ensure price terms and conditions can be implemented and appropriately accounted for.
You will be responsible for:
Lead end to end process for pricing and market access contracts (public and private), both internally and externally.
In collaboration with Market Access and Canadian leadership team, support the pan-Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance (pCPA), private payer and provincial negotiation strategies for new and marketed products.
Collaborate with Market Access managers to develop pricing strategies for pipeline planning, new product launches, pricing maintenance and defense, cross-indication price optimization in compliance with Patented Medicines Pricing Review Board (PMPRB), in alignment with Global pricing guidance and in consideration of local market factors.
Perform key analyses (price-volume trade-off), assess financial impact of pricing policies, and contract terms. Provide data-driven insights, build innovative pricing models, and provide clear pricing recommendations to market access team and additional stakeholders.
Provide pricing-related assumptions for financial planning cycles
Support Market access in contract implementation and maintenance
Reviewing and provide recommendations for payer agreement financial terms and conditions, to ensure feasibility of implementation
Lead the implementation of any payer contract to ensure systems, processes and reporting are efficiently and effectively set up to track contract adherence.
Perform detailed reconciliations of all contractual obligations to ensure that all pricing agreements (e.g. rebates, caps) are accurately billed / accounted for . This includes partnering with external Patient support programs to obtain adequate reporting to facilitate reconciliation between Alexion RDBU and payers
Ensure all contracts are stored, monitored, and renewed timely
Update (PAR) Pricing, Access and Reporting database for new or renewed contract terms
Lead Patented Medicines Pricing Review Board (PMPRB) strategy, compliance, reporting, and analyses across Alexion RDBU portfolio including but not limited to
Monitoring evolving PMPRB regulations and guidelines and impact on RDBU
Proactive review of pricing compliance related to Canadian reference countries
Coordinating and completing semi-annual block reporting and adhoc reporting
Working with legal, market access and finance teams to devise and implement strategies to maximize business opportunities under PMPRB guidelines while remaining compliant.
Support PMPRB investigations, working with commercial, Finance, Legal and external consultants to develop effective strategies and perform detailed analyses to support positions take to limit Alexion RDBU risk
Subject matter expert on pricing environment including but not limited to
Monitoring and ensuring compliance with provincial pricing policies, rules, and pricing submissions.
Monitoring movements of competitor pricing and pricing regulations to ensure Alexion RDBU is competitively positioned, while ensuring internally and externally (PMPRB) compliance
Working with Government Affairs Director and Market Access Director to monitor and assess the health care and payer policy environment for price implications, work with Canadian industry groups including, BIOTECanada (BTC), Rarei and others as needed
You will need to have:
University degree in Accounting, Finance, Science, Health Sciences or Business
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position, with market access and pricing expertise in the Canadian pharmaceutical industry, including previous experience directly dealing with PMPRB Regulations and Guidelines management
Demonstrated experience working with and communicating clearly and effectively at all levels of an organization
Ability to think strategically and understand tactical implications, with solid analytical skills
Ability to lead and drive change in a matrix environment
Strong written and oral presentation skills to explain complex concepts clearly and to a variety of audiences
Experience presenting insights and price business cases to Senior Management
Experience working cross functionally
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint
Experience with and ability to understand and maximize the use of ERP systems to implement efficient sustainable processes to enable high quality data
