Van-Kam Freightways Ltd. Looking for Receptionist at Surrey, British Columbia, Canada Full Time

Van-Kam Freightways is seeking a highly organized and personable individual to join our team as a Receptionist out of our Surrey Terminal. The Receptionist is the first point of contact for our customers, visitors, and staff and this role is vital to our company. We require someone who is friendly, outgoing, a team player; and having great customer service skills is a must. This position is full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30AM to 5:00PM and reports directly to our Credit Manager.

Van-Kam Freightways Ltd. (Van Kam) is one of the largest regional carriers in Western Canada specializing in less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation. With 8 terminal locations across British Columbia, we fulfill shipments to communities within 1-3 days throughout BC and Alberta. Between our own resources and our partner network, our coverage extends beyond Western Canada into the U.S. and Eastern Canada.

Responsibilities:

• Answering and directing calls to the appropriate person on the multi-line switchboard
• Answering generic questions from callers
• Greet and welcome visitors with a warm and professional demeanor.
• Manage the reception area, ensuring it is clean and presentable at all times.
• Controlling the gates for the trucks, visitors, and employees
• Sending out and receiving couriered mail and packages
• Assisting with Accounts Receivable duties such as posting

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
• Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Have above average keyboard skills, excellent telephone manners and a strong customer service attitude.
• Proficient in using office equipment, such as a phone system and computer.
• Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities
• Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and efficiently.
• Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

Training And Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in office administration is an asset
• Proven experience as a receptionist or in a similar customer service role
