MatchBox Consulting Group Looking for Intermediate Accountant at Langley, British Columbia, Canada Full Time

Matchbox Consulting Group is seeking an Intermediate Accountant for our client in Langley. Our client has deep roots in the community and has built an excellent reputation.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Intermediate Accountant will play a crucial role in facilitating their ongoing growth. This position encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including overseeing daily accounting and finance task.

Responsibilities:

• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions related to construction projects.
• Reconcile project costs, track expenses, and analyze budget variances to ensure cost-effectiveness and project profitability.
• Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to present accurate project financial statuses.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities for ongoing and upcoming projects, supporting project managers in financial planning.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with tax regulations, financial reporting standards, and industry-specific requirements.
• Participate in month-end and year-end closing procedures, contributing to the preparation of financial reports and audits.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the finance department.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
• Working to or possess CPA
• Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including job costing and project accounting.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping and reporting.
• Knowledge of relevant accounting standards and regulations
