Educational Assistant/Administrative Assistant Position
Thrive Charter School is a kindergarten through grade 6 school located at 10735 McQueen Road that opened in September 2023. Thrive School is creating something special; a no fees to parents, K-6 Public Charter School. A place where our students’ brilliant futures come into clear focus, and anything is possible.

Position Description
1.0 FTE Position that involves some time as an Educational Assistant and Administrative Support. The hours of this position would be starting in the afternoon and ending after the bus runs for the extra-curricular activities are complete.
Eligibility and Qualifications
Knowledge and Experience with PowerSchool is a must
High School Diploma
Educational Assistant Certificate or comparable education would be an asset
First Aid certificate would be an asset
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training would be an asset
Courses related to working with students with special needs would also be an asset
Strong computer and technology skills
Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with youth or in a school setting is an asset

Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Principal, the teachers in the classrooms where you are assigned, and in compliance with the Thrive Elementary School approved charter:
Assist teachers with many instructional and non-instructional tasks in the classroom and with other school activities.
Work as a team member of the school and student support team
Provide routine and repetitive instructional support
Assists the students in acquiring the education and skills necessary for advancement in the educational setting.
Work to implement the strategies as outlined in the Individual Program Plans or Personalized Opportunity Plans
Duties as assigned may include routine recording, basic charting, logging of observations as well as possibly provide personal care and additional assistance for students depending on their particular needs.
Promote open communication and work co-operatively and effectively as a team member who communicates and contributes information on a continuous basis
Distribution of meals and snack
Supporting of students academically before they transition into the Thrive Time extra-curricular programs
Provides learning opportunities so students are able to see themselves as the innovators, scientists, inventors, engineers and technology experts of tomorrow.
Establishes and models expectations for behaviour and procedures for maintaining order and safety among the students for whom we are responsible, under the guidance of the Principal. Enforces all administrative policies governing students.
Open minded and committed to continuous professional learning, collaboration, and reflection.
Performs supervisory duties, as assigned
Performs other related tasks as appropriate, including organizing materials, displaying students’ work, as assigned
Records Management:
Processes and verifies school staff absentee and for the school according to established procedures.
Prepares reports and summaries as requested by the Principal.
Completes work relating to the student information system (ie. PowerSchool, SchoolEngage, PASI, Student Digital File Repository, etc).
Assigned duties applicable to the recording and processing of attendance information, and the telephoning of parents to verify attendance.
Assists in maintaining accurate school enrolment records by processing changes to personal data, class lists, and additions and deletions to the school. Compiles reports and summaries as necessary.
Ensuring data relating to the student is accurately entered.
Assigned duties applicable to the documentation and maintenance of school and digital student files.
Ensures accurate digital processing of student records. (please note that all of our students will be new to our school)
Flags and forwards important documents on file (ie. legal documents, diagnosis, etc.)
As required, coordinates the processing and preparation of electronic report cards. May involve the distribution, collection, and verification of mark-gathering documents and the coordination of processes for preparation of report cards.
Administrative Support:
Serves as Administrative Support to the Principal and Superintendent Sorts and refers mail and e-mail, answering routine correspondence as necessary.
Support for the work of the Board of Thrive Elementary School (ie. Minuting of meetings, managing files, etc)
Prepares communication to families.
Ensures provision of reception service to telephone and counter callers, relays messages, and makes appointments and supplies information, including basic school policy and procedures.
Maintains inventories and distributes supplies
As required, assist with bookings, arranging transportation beyond the regular before and after school transportation, processes release forms, permission slips, and notices according to established procedures for field trips or school-wide events.
Management of FOIP (Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy) for all students
Maintaining office files
Support with sharing out of school newsletters, and teacher/student handbooks and agendas.
Support families who come into the school and may need help with PowerSchool or Google Classroom.
Answers phone calls and help to facilitate after extra-curricular programming transportation
