Finastra Looking for Reconciliation Analyst at Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Full Time

What will you contribute?

The successful candidate will be responsible for the cash management and financial reconciliation activities for the student lending portfolios. This includes the daily and monthly reconciliation of the portfolios, client bank, and GL accounts. Maintaining ongoing reconciliations, monitoring of unreconciled items, and ensuring escalations are initiated so that outstanding items are addressed and resolved within set service levels. The candidate ensures accurate and complete funding and remittances are received and transferred daily. The candidate is also responsible for processing entries from other departments and files from the clients accurately and within service levels. The candidate will prepare disbursement and refund cheques and will be responsible for cheque maintenance activities. The candidate will provide support and backup for other tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities & Deliverables:

• Prepare daily balancing, prior to submitting accurate and complete remittance and funding reports to clients within set deadlines
• Prepare bank, GL, and interest account reconciliations daily for our student lending clients
• Investigate, action, and resolve variances within set service standards; engage appropriate parties in variance resolution, such as with operational and technology teams, financial institutions, educational institutions, and clients
• Follow up on resolution of outstanding items and escalate when appropriate
• Process files, such as payment, grants, and other transactions, received from financial institutions, external clients, and internal customers within set service levels
• Maintain internal transactional databases to support monthly financial reporting
• Maintain the operational loss database and complete required reporting
• Issue disbursement and refund cheques, include maintaining cheque stock and associated cheque maintanence activities, such as returned and uncashed cheques
• Address internal and external requests and inquiries promptly and correctly
• Provide support during audits
• Supporting new clients and/or new requirements from clients, participating in creating templates and identifying requirements
• Participate in the identification and development of opportunities for streamlining
• Take on new tasks as assigned and/or willingness to cross train and learn new tasks

Qualifications

Required Experience:

• 2 – 3 years of Reconciliation experience or Accounting experience preferred
• Must have strong proficiency with Excel and Access, with excellent attention to details
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and investigative skills
• Comfortable working cross-functionally while balancing competing priorities through effective time management
• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the demonstrated ability to communicate detailed information in a comprehensive manner.

• College diploma in Business or Accounting preferred
