Is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes. These processes will address capacity, quality, safety, ergonomic, and environmental requirements of the business.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement new processes.
- Provide required support to meet team objectives.
- Develop and update routings.
- Provide project support and/or leadership on the introduction of new products.
- Determine labour standards and maintain production capacity model.
- Contributes greatly to the plant wide cost reduction teams.
- Develops and maintains process descriptions and work instruction to ensure ISO certification is maintained.
- Materials testing/planning.
- Technical reports.
- Become an active participant and contributor to the continuous improvements process at Knoll.
- Follow all Knoll safety expectations.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Commitment to quality.
- Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
Experience requirements:
- Education:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (P. Eng. designation is desirable)
- Industry Experience:
- Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in Mechanical Engineering;
- Experience with or Knowledge of furniture / woodworking and/or finishing is considered an asset
- Technical Experience:
- Experience in continuous improvement activities will be required.
- This includes using tools such as kaizens, mistake proofing, establishing standard work practices, problem solving, pull systems, 5S, setup reduction, TPM, etc.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing operations, environmental compliance, industrial hazard and communication. Well versed in OSHA regulations and ISO 14000 auditing and implementation.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001/9001 required.

- Must have strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work off shifts, flexible hours, including weekends
- Black Belt or Lean Belt Certification preferred.
- Must be flexible to travel as needed
