Business Systems Analyst -Capital Markets

Apex Systems is a global IT services provider and our consulting practice has an opening for a Business Systems Analyst – Consultant who will be responsible for the solution requirements for Collateral applications for a Top Five Bank.

Client: Big 5 Bank

Location: Downtown Toronto/ hybrid 2 days a week

Terms: 6 Month Contract to hire

Hours: 37.5 hours/week Monday-Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Group Information: Repo, Sec lending, Prime Brokerage, OTC, Fixed Income Business Analysis team. Team is made of 8 BAs and the manager, supporting the back-office, middle-office, and the trading floor in relation to G1, Apex, ADP Bloomberg technologies. This team works closely with the development team and production support team which are both located on the same floor. )

What You’ll Be Doing:

Working with Front Office / Trading teams, compliance, supervision and governance, trade control, development teams, production support, and regulatory reporting services (RRS).

• Involved in requirement intakes with stakeholders, will be assigned project tasks, looking at making improvements and efficiencies, and addressing regulatory concerns.
• Perform the analysis, design, implementation, modification, and daily functional support of all applications.
• Works with key stakeholders within all business functions to align technology solutions with business strategies.
• Gathers requirements from business units and translates those to programmers and developers.
• Prepares cost-benefit and return-on-investment analyses to aid in decisions on system implementation.
• Demonstrates an informed knowledge of business functions to resolve problems and capitalize on improvement opportunities.
• Supports one or more highly complex business processes.
• Works on multiple projects as a project team member.
• Serves as a liaison between the business community and the IT organization in order to provide technical solutions to meet user needs.
• Ensure collection of information, accurate requirement gathering, data analysis, documentation of information, and presentation of findings advance initiatives and ensure project success.
• Conduct analysis of client processes and functional or reporting requirements to prepare documentation and communicate the information.
• Provide SME advice and direction to internal and external customers to ensure that the business requirements are appropriately defined.
• Coordinate and lead cross-functional tasks or work packages to identify and document functional or reporting requirements, work flow, information sources and system specifications.
• Partner with project manager, technical resources, vendors, and management to ensure accurate execution of projects.

Must-Have Requirements:

• 3-5 years of experience in Business Analysis
• Strong experience working in Capital Markets
• Income Business knowledge:
• Collateral, Fixed Repo, Sec lending, Prime Brokerage, OTC experience highly preferred
• System knowledge:
• G1, Apex, ADP Bloomberg TOM Experience
• Experience using SQL Queries as well as analyzing the data returned

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Regulatory Compliance experience (IIROC MTRS and/or MiFID II)
• Automated RT integration between trading system, market data, collateral system, TriOptima, AcadiaSoft, Custodian, and internal downstream systems.
• Automated RT STP settlement solution for collateral with GL posting and reconciliation
• Ability to work well within a large team environment

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required.
• MBA or other related advanced degree preferred.
• Knowledge of the banking industry, including operations, products, and services.
• Regulatory knowledge/experience with IIROC MTRS and/or MiFID II.
• Experience gathering requirements, and analysis including Use Case analysis.
• Professional experience with system development lifecycle, application delivery and implementation.
• Extensive experience in facilitating meetings with team members, management, and stakeholders.
• Basic knowledge of programming languages in order to comprehend reading code and basic functions.
• Ability to create business solutions that increase competitive advantage.
• Ability to exercise good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
• Project management skills in order to handle diverse projects, often times simultaneously, and meet aggressive deadlines.
• Ability to solve technical problems/ processes and understand complex details.
• Ability to increase operating efficiency with produce high quality technical solutions.
