We’re looking for a mission-driven Program Lead, Peer Social & Recreation Groups who is passionate about creating more accessible, inclusive, and equitable communities across Canada where people with low vision have unlimited opportunities and can experience life free from barriers and discrimination.

Your Impact at CNIB

• Recruit, train, engage and actively manage an integrated team of volunteers who are accountable for delivering Peer Social and Recreation Groups
• Coordinate all program content/curriculum for the Peer Social and Recreation Groups.
• Ensure Diversity, Inclusion & Accessibility is embedded in all CNIB programs
• Contribute to making CNIB Community Hubs a welcoming place for participants, volunteers, and staff – regularly participating in the local Hub’s staff schedule rotation
• Support coordination and execution of the CNIB Mobile Hub in collaboration with CNIB SmartLife and other program areas, including traveling to communities within the region to deliver Mobile Hub
• Help make CNIB the organization of choice for volunteers – promoting our commitment to volunteer engagement at every opportunity and developing the active volunteer base needed to support local operations.
• Lead by example in bringing our values to life – pushing the team to work with passion, determination, ambition, and a positive spirit to change people’s lives, and society itself.
• Act as a member of the Peer Support and Sports & Recreation Knowledge Coalition Group comprised of peers from across the country to share resources, challenges and successes and to develop and refine best practices in this program area

Requirements

Who you are:

Education and Certifications

• Degree or diploma in related field, or equivalent work experience
• Recreation and Leisure studies or equivalent from an accredited program is an asset

Experience And Qualifications

• 3-5 years programming experience
• Experience in comparable position within a non-profit, voluntary organization an asset
• Well-developed interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated relationship management skills for individuals, groups, partners, and organizations.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills. Ability to communicate effectively at both internal and external levels, as required.
• Experience with Salesforce is an asset
• Strong computer skills (e.g., proficient with Outlook, Excel, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.).
• Working knowledge of technical aids and devices for people with sight loss is an asset
• Must have experience working with volunteers.
• Knowledge and skills in recreation and leisure studies an asset.
• Leadership and mentoring skills.
• Creative and innovative problem-solving skills
• Detail-oriented, highly organized
• Excellent project and time management skills.
• Must be mature and responsible
• Must be able to travel independently within the region via public transit or car (taxi, Uber etc.)
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with all departments
• Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset
• Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset
