Santacruz Silver Mining Limited is engaged in the operation, acquisition, exploration, and development of mineral properties in Latin America, with a primary focus on silver and zinc, but also including lead and copper. The Company has six producing mines. Bolivar, Porco and the Caballo Blanco Group, which consists of the Tres Amigos, Reserva and Colquechaquita mines are in Bolivia, along with the Soracaya exploration project and San Lucas ore sourcing and trading business. The Zimapan mine is in Mexico.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Accounting & Finance team in Vancouver, Canada. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the individual will be responsible for the following corporate accounting functions:
Responsibilities:
- Perform monthly close activities, including journal entry preparation, balance sheet account reconciliations, and review and analysis of relevant aspects of the balance sheet, cash flow and P&L
- Review and/or prepare monthly transactions/Journal entries
- Review and/or prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliation final reports
- Review and/or prepare consolidation entries
- Provide IFRS guidance on accounting treatment or accounting implications (as needed) on any new activities or specific transactions
- Prepare the group consolidation, and supporting working papers;
- Prepare accounting memos for new and/or complex transactions;
- Support the preparation of annual Canadian tax returns;
- Coordinate with the Company’s external auditors, tax advisors, and various other service providers;
- Ad hoc duties and tasks as assigned by the Corporate Controller.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or other relevant field
- Canadian CPA designation (CA, CGA, CMA and CPA) or equivalents required
- 5+ years of previous accounting experience in medium or large size companies or 3 years of public practice accounting firm is required
- Advanced excel skills
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), with proven ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders
- Experience working for Public Companies is preferred
- Experience in the mining sector is preferred
- Spanish speaking is preferred
