Job Title : General Accountant

Reports To : Controller

Job Summary:

The General Accountant reports to the Controller and is responsible for providing accounting support functions to all areas of the Finance Department, including but not limited to A/P, G/L, A/R, and Payroll. This process includes reviewing general ledger accounts and preparing adjusting journal entries, performing account analysis and reconciliations.

Job Responsibilities:

• Prepare and book journal entries to General Ledger.
• Maintain subsidiary and general ledgers by posting transaction entries to applicable sources as well as reconciling general ledger account balances and details to these applicable sources
• Keep track of prepaid expenditures
• Assist with preparation of YE Audit working papers
• Handle petty cash, Invoicing, and processing receipts
• Suggest ways of improving and streamlining the A/P function
• Communicates with the Auditors and responds to their inquiries related to the Y/E review.
• Process some approved invoices and expense reports, prepare and send cheques, manage some Accounts Payable functions as well as some regulatory requirements relating to periodic reporting and payments
• Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all financial and bookkeeping activities.
• Maintain current knowledge of regulatory changes and impact on the organization’s books of account
• Maintain an up-to-date, complete, and systematic filing system to support book-keeping and financial records.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, intercompany and credit card reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly GST/HST returns for monthly filing
• Prepare analysis and reconciliation of general ledger accounts as requested
• Process Corporate Tax Installment payments
• Prepare any support schedules for monthly financial statements as requested
• Process bi-weekly Payroll (only in the absence of the HR Generalist) along with related duties like preparing payroll journal entries, generating reports, and any ad-hoc analysis.
• Provides assistance with month-end close as well as any ad-hoc analysis that may be required relating to the preparation of the monthly financial statements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Technical Skills and Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in accounting, finance, or related field

• CMA or CGA designation in progress
• 3+ years of accounting experience
• Experience in the Aerospace field is a plus
• Solid knowledge and understanding of full-cycle accounting
• Strong knowledge of internal controls
• Proficiency in Epicor or other ERP Software as related to A/P and G/L modules
• Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, and Word

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

• accounting: 1 year (preferred)
