The Opportunity:
The Toronto Police Service (TPS) is seeking a highly innovative, technical savvy trailblazer to join its team as an e-Learning Specialist to join the Learning Development and Standard Unit at the Toronto Police College.
This role plans, designs and develops equity, inclusion and human rights courses delivered by Instructors at the Toronto Police College (TPC) in accordance with the Toronto Police Services Board s 81 recommendations on police reform. The successful incumbent will construct equity, inclusion and human rights courses for an adult learner group which may be delivered virtually or instructor-led, or in e-learning modules using the TPC Learning Management System (LMS).
The e-Learning Specialist will become an expert in using the Toronto Police Service LMS, and train Service instructors to leverage its capabilities in the instructional design of their courses. The successful incumbent will be a support to all Service content creators where e-Learning or Hybrid learning is the chosen modality while reviewing existing eLearning curriculum with an equity, inclusion and human rights lens, and ensure new content is aligned with best practices.
Under the direction of the Unit Commander, TPC, the e-Learning Specialist will develop new equity, inclusion and human rights training in consultation with subject matter experts (Equity, Inclusion & Human Rights unit, ARAP, CABR, MHAAP, CPKN, OPC, CPC). In addition, the successful candidate will review existing training with a lens to support Service priorities and initiatives, develop and/or evaluate transfer of knowledge strategies, and prepare lesson plans, course training standards and Service Board reports where applicable.
