Adastra is seeking an Azure Data Engineer to join our Managed Services team in Canada to support clients in the Public Sector. We are Canada’s leading Data & AI company, implementing cloud-based solutions for business-critical data and analytics workloads. You are an energetic result oriented individual, with extensive Azure Data Application Support experience. You have a strong client facing communication ability, and the skills to effectively direct and advise other support staff. You will work primarily during Canadian business hours, after hours on-call work is required for which, additional compensation is provided. Your expertise may be required to facilitate project deliveries.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and respond to Service Desk incidents, requests, and alerts in accordance with our SLAs
- Investigate and resolve application related incidents
- Provide design and estimations for application change requests
- Implement change requests in accordance with our development and deployment processes. This can include DevOps driven development and deployment
- Ensure adherence to our standards as defined by requirements for SOC2 Type 2 and ISO27001
- Recommend and contribute to ongoing process improvements and optimization
- Always adhere to best practices for secure and defensive coding.
- Ensure security policies and processes are adhered to
- Primary application contact for internal and external customer support/help desk
- Ensure all cases are logged and monitored in the ticketing system
- Communicate with customers regarding status of cases and request more details when needed
- Maintain knowledge base and support documentation
- Engage with partners and third-party service providers
Required Skills, Knowledge, Education and Experience
- The successful hire will be required to obtain Canadian Security Clearance
- Proven Azure data development expertise, for all aspects of data processing, i.e., Data Ingestions, Data Preparation, Data Integration, and Data Provisioning
- Experience supporting and optimizing data pipelines that operate according to batch or streaming (e.g., IoT data) process models.
- Prior experience in a relevant service and support role
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to function independently in a customer facing context, and within a support team
- Experience developing/supporting data processes using relational and dimensional data models
- Development experience using / or on:
- Azure Data Factory Pipelines
- Azure Data Lake, Data Factory and DevOps
- SQL Server, T-SQL, stored procedures, functions
- Azure Synapse, or Azure Data Warehouse
- Databricks (Python Pyspark knowledge, or Scala)
- Power BI / Power BI Workspace
- Azure Key Vault
- Work in a combined Windows and Unix software environment
- Strong SQL development & optimization skills
- The relevant Azure certifications are advantageous
Nice to Have
- Azure Power Apps development experience
- Azure Power Automate development experience
- Oracle, PL-SQL
- Microsoft Data Analysis Expressions (DAX)
