Description of Role: A Regional Sales Manager assumes responsibility for securing retail fuel accounts (branded and unbranded, through wholesale and commercial distribution channels) and selling fuel products to customer locations to maximize sales and profitability. This includes developing relationships with new independent dealers; and, developing and maintaining relationships with existing independent dealers by performing all sales and service functions such as delivery, pricing, business consulting, marketing programs, contract negotiations, and monitoring of operation standards.
Related Work Experience and Skills:
– Understanding sales cycles – networking, lead generation, negotiating, and a proven record of “closing the deal”
– Fuels Sales – preference for candidates with independent Dealer experience, rack fuel pricing dynamics, understanding of fuel hauling and storage requirements both practical and legal. Experience in Esso Branded Wholesale network is ideal but not required.
– Special consideration will be given to candidates who speak Hindi, Farsi, Urdu, Mandarin, Arabic, or Punjabi
Role Responsibilities and Average Time Weight
75% of time: Responsible for increasing fuel sales through networking and cold calling new accounts including but not limited to:
Using CRM (SalesForce), build robust network of opportunities through cold calling, networking, referrals, trade-shows and other industry connections
See leads through to successful contraction negotiation and onboarding
Conduct contract negotiations and renewals for existing dealers including developing letters of intent and finalizing the sign-off. In certain circumstances, to encourage existing dealers to renew their supply contracts, develop tailored programs (e.g., economic assistance) or initiatives by reviewing the Economic Proforma for the site.
Develop a market analysis of the competition and competitive offers to stay competitive in the marketplace.
Monitor the activities of local competitors to understand where opportunities exist to increase market share.
Develop and maintain relationships with prospective dealers (i.e., non-Econo/Esso BW independent dealers) to increase market share by developing sales strategies and conducting in-person sales meetings. These sales strategies could include developing tailored programs, initiatives, and/or incentives to encourage new dealers to sign supply fuel contracts.
Increase the Econo/Esso BW brand awareness by participating in customer appreciation days at independent dealer locations, community events, etc. This involves in-person, evening and weekend participation in these activities.
20% of time: Responsible for the effective daily operations management of the assigned dealer locations, which includes, but is not limited to:
Develop and maintain relationships with existing independent dealers to ensure they have received, understand, and are following the current Econo/Esso BW programs and guidelines. This also includes ensuring the dealers are aware of the support Econo/Esso BW provides and they are following the established quality, customer service and health and safety standards.
Provide solutions to independent dealers on fuel supply and non-fuel supply issues as required on an ongoing basis. It is important to note this support can include emergency based consultation. Provide solutions on non-fuel supply retail issues as required.
Partner with the independent dealers to grow the Econo/Esso BW brand awareness by providing guidance and ensuring adherence to the Econo/Esso BW sales and marketing strategies.
Travel to dealer locations to develop relationships and to provide any required in-person guidance and support.
Vacation coverage of existing accounts, while team members are off
5% of time: Responsible for ongoing market and legislative awareness, Esso programs, and reporting; not limited to:
Maintaining awareness of market trends in the retail industry, new innovative equipment, and upcoming Econo/Esso BW customer initiatives.
Maintaining awareness on Petroleum Storage Legislation and any other required federal or provincial legislation pertinent to petroleum dealers.
Reporting to Head Office within defined timeframes/deadlines any required forms and paperwork. Examples include Profit & Loss Statements, Daily Rack Reports, Customer Complaint Resolution Reports, etc. Different reports are submitted daily, weekly, and monthly as defined by Head Office.

Equipment/Requirements for application
You will be provided with a cell phone, laptop and all other equipment needed to perform your role.
Candidates will use their own vehicle (with paid car allowance) and be provided a credit card for work expenses including fuel.
A clean driving record is required.
