Within the scope of this position, the Accounting Manager takes on a key role to continually provide an environment promoting a culture of health and safety awareness in the workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
Manages financial operations including accounts payable and accounts receivable
Supports the month end close including creation and posting of journal entries and account reconciliation
Manages all government reporting requirements and compliance including GST filings
Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages
Prepares monthly progress claims and invoices with review and direction from the Sr. VP
Responsible for cash management functions including banking administration
Prepares budgets and forecasts
Leads process improvements and keeps up to date with industry best practice for finance and payroll functions
Assesses and improves internal controls, policies and procedures
Provides management with information and financial analysis to support decision-making
Coordinates the provision of information to external auditors and to other external stakeholders as required
Researches and resolves accounting issues including evaluation and implementation of new accounting standards
Administers all payroll function including processing payroll, preparation of ROEs and T4s
Maintains payroll records and employee files
Supports HR function including benefit administration
Trains and mentor’s staff
Works Collaboratively with associated companies’ staff and accounting teams
Carry-out other duties as required by the President and Sr. Vice President.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent with CPA designation
Experience in the Construction industry preferred
Experience with Sage 300 CRE Software and Procore Construction Software is preferred
5+ years of experience with full-cycle accounting, financial statement preparation, and payroll processing
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook skills
Demonstrate attention to detail and desire for accuracy in work of self and others
Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
Ability to manage and mentor staff
Self-directed and organized with effective time management skills
Must be proficient in English, both oral and written
Must posses an attitude of professionalism, maturity and sound judgment to successfully manage the challenges of this position.
Demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality and handle issues of a sensitive nature with tact and discretion.
Ability to support the Executive team and balance multiple projects.
