SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:
The Human Resources Coordinator will provide exceptional administrative and HR support in a fast-paced office environment. The Human Resources Coordinator will be responsible for supporting high volume recruitment and employee lifecycle activities including but not limited to: full-cycle recruitment and selection, new hire orientations, benefits administration, training administration and updating and maintaining HR-related files.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruitment and Onboarding (70% of the time)
Support the full-cycle recruitment process by posting vacancies using the applicant tracking system, attending career fairs (in person or virtual), sourcing qualified candidates using cost-effective methods, including social media, prescreening resumes, coordinating/conducting telephone, virtual and in-person interviews, composing employment agreements, independent contracts and conducting reference checks
Record and maintain data and metrics related to recruitment activities
Coordinate the onboarding process by preparing new hire packages, coordinating and facilitating orientation in conjunction with the hiring managers and health and safety team, ensuring all administrative tasks associated with onboarding are completed
Responsible for coordinating new hire training sessions
Create and update job descriptions
Other HR Administrative Duties (30% of the time)
Update and maintain HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook while assisting in communicating updates and changes to all employees as required
Assist in coordinating and scheduling performance reviews
Responsible for responding to day-to-day general HR inquiries in person, by telephone or by email
Prepare and complete employment verification letters
Process vacation request forms using the P2000 system
Create and generate HR reports and maintain HR-related files
Support administration of the group benefit programs
Assist with training administration and related initiatives
Conduct research on HR best practices and legislative compliance
Other duties, as assigned, including special HR projects and functions
KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a specialization in Human Resources and/or College diploma from a recognized Human Resources Management program
Knowledge of relevant legislation, particularly the Ontario Employment Standards Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code
Demonstrated knowledge of the full-cycle recruitment process
CHRP designation or working toward the designation is an asset
SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
1-3 years of Human Resources experience preferred
Experience in a Construction/Engineering/Nuclear or Project Management environment would be a definite asset
Experience with benefits administration preferred
Demonstrated ability in developing trust and strong business relationships with associates at all levels within the organization
Ability to support and maintain positive employee relations
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
HRIS and applicant tracking system (ATS) experience is an asset
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times
Ability to work under minimal supervision
Exemplary customer service focus
Strong work ethic and the ability to lead by example
Ability to work under pressure and with tight timelines
Strong communicator, both oral and written
Enthusiastic and willing to learn new tasks
Exercises good judgement at all times
