The primary mission of the Commercial Business Technology Solutions Director is to lead and take responsibility and accountability of whole Information Technology solutions services, which includes capabilities such as Digital transformation, Data, Patient Solutions and In Field Team solutions, ensuring Canadian Affiliate receives pro-active and cost-effective solutions and services. He/she acts as a strategic thought partner to the GM and Affiliate Management Team executing aligned technology strategies in a complex environment using analytical aptitude with the ability to quickly understand business performance drivers and their impact. Plays an active role in brand teams through local teams and direct reports. Leads local BTS team to shape and identify current and emerging business needs to leverage existing technology solutions, co-create with business stakeholders and global BTS teams to balance short term and long-term objectives. Works across AbbVie BTS organizations and business functions to negotiate and secure the availability of resources (people, funding, demand) to meet the demands of the Affiliate/Enterprise. When applicable, delivering agreed upon solutions on time, within scope, and maintain local Tech Solutions complying to AbbVie Policies and Canadian regulations.
The People Leader:
Will lead and develop a team of BTS Product Line leads and/or BTS geography leads within the affiliate and be an active member of the AMT (Affiliate Management Team).
The Technology Leader:
represent the direction of technology through discussion and alignment with GMs/VPs responsible for their respective areas. The role is responsible for helping the area and affiliates maximise the value they can realise from capabilities and solutions as well as oversight for the delivery of infrastructure services into the organisation at a local level.
The success Leader:
As a subject matter expert within a global standard technology product area, they will play an active role in the planning and direction of global and local technology implementation partnering alongside CEX, Commercial teams, Affiliate leadership, and other functions. Ensuring adoption and understanding of features and feature roadmaps.
The Commercial BTS Director is expected to:
Be recognized as the go-to person for technology leadership within the organization by providing advice and take a leading role in business technology projects
Have input into business strategy, in areas where technology plays a significant role
Generate projects based on knowledge of business strategy as well as local business landscape and goals – play a full and integrated role in the strategic and, where possible, the tactical planning process within the business
Position the value and benefits of Commercial BTS across all capabilities (collaboration, digital, data & analytics, In-Field Team excellence and Patient support programs)
Ensure that BTS Operations within the affiliate are delivered to a high-standard and in line with affiliate requirements
Provide leadership and guidance for other BTS members within the affiliate.
Lead the Technology strategy for the Affiliate aligned with the global BTS organization, by representing the needs of the business, and through activation of global Technology solutions, or solutions aligned with global BTS.
Align with global Product teams to embed needs within global Product development, activation, and support.
Tactically deliver Local solutions where product fit, timescales and affiliate budget do not allow landing of Global products in the short term. In this case strive to establish a simple migration pathway to the Global strategy.
Technology Leadership
Should be recognized as a key function for all matters related directly or indirectly to technology:
Take a leadership position on all technology product related initiatives
Speak authoritatively on technology product matters and provide guidance to the affiliate
Create opportunities for the use of technology products
Understand the external technical and operating model environment and become an expert in understanding how this affects AbbVie at an affiliate level
Understand emerging technology and digital strategies within Global and in the market and understand how they will impact affiliate business strategies.
Commercial & Business Technology Solutions
Will play a key role in the implementation of capabilities for commercial processes. This includes the delivery, and monitoring of affiliate Commercial Solutions designed for our external stakeholders, mainly in partnership with the Brand Teams and Medical functions This will entail:
Define, initiate, and oversee the delivery of technology projects at an affiliate level.
Understand the local business landscape and dynamics and partner with business management to develop BTS strategies that support the key business strategies
Ensure that projects are integrated solutions, re-using existing solutions and AbbVie-standard platforms wherever possible, and fulfil their functional business requirements, as signed off by the business partners.
Help the customers make business decisions regarding risk, costs, measures of success and ROI (return of investment) for affiliate BTS projects
BTS representative for affiliate business vision/strategy sessions
Providing affiliate input for Area/global BTS vision/strategy sessions where required.
Influencing broader AbbVie BTS strategies (area, division, corporate) through objective input and feedback, ensuring decisions & actions are consistent with the relevant business & BTS strategies
Maintaining a high level of knowledge around these systems, and being a point of contact for the affiliate for future developments and best practice
Compliance and Control
Responsible for the implementation and management of BTS compliance within the affiliate.
Responsible for compliance with, and awareness in the affiliate of, applicable Corporate and local IT policies and procedures. Primary contact for internal BTS audits
Ensure that relationships with external parties are managed effectively and constructively, with the appropriate contractual considerations in place for AbbVie’s benefit.
Ensure all projects are compliant with local regulatory frameworks and legal requirements.
Monitoring of Affiliate Site BTS Operations and Infrastructure
The Commercial BTS team has oversight of BTS Operations and Infrastructure services delivered into the affiliate, and for local BTS business processes that support day-to-day operations. Responsible:
The development, implementation, and monitoring of any affiliate-specific services
Liaison with Global Infrastructure Services, Global Service Desk, for escalation and feedback.
Leadership of local third-party EUC staff
Understanding of affiliate user experience in relation to BTS Operations and Infrastructure, the Commercial BTS team is the voice of the affiliate in discussions with global functions and should seek to continuously raise the bar for service delivery quality.

Local change management and Value realization for enabled capabilities.
Experience & Competencies Required:
Ability to work effectively and highly interactively with all levels of management, BRM Skills.

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science, Business administration or equivalent experience, preferably in business or a closely related discipline.
+10 years of experience in IT leading positions, working in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment across countries
