Job Description

Events and Activations Manager

Reporting to the Regional Director, Marketing & Communications (Director of Marketing & Communications, Fairmont Hotel Vancouver), you will oversee the hotel’s event & activations program at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver through innovative event creations, management and execution. You are a passionate creative that has a keen eye for detail, project management and seeing a project through from ideation to execution. You will manage the annual schedule and execution timelines, build the necessary tools, and find new ways to make a unique impression for the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver brand where it matters. What you will be doing:

• Drive the success of Fairmont Hotel Vancouver’s hotel events and activations, and the day/nightlife program through innovative event creation, management, and execution that aligns with the hotel’s brand mission and target audiences.
• Design, plan, and execute innovative events for the Food and Beverage outlets and hotel.
• Ensure the event & activation program continuously evolves, staying current with industry trends, cultural relevancy and guest feedback.
• Collaborate with chefs, bartenders, and other professionals to craft thematic events that highlight Fairmont Hotel Vancouver’s offerings.
• Work closely with the executive committee and marketing department on market events to increase visibility.
• Coordinate with vendors, performers, internal and external teams for seamless event and program operations.
• In collaboration with marketing team, develop event-specific and program-related marketing strategies.
• Engage high-profile guests and companies, ensuring their attendance and involvement in key events and programs.
• Oversee the budget for event and program activities, ensuring maximized return on investment.
• Track and analyze sales data from events and programs, adjusting strategies for optimal results.
• Uphold and represent the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver brand in all interactions, ensuring stakeholder satisfaction.
• Collaborate on strategic decisions related to Food and Beverage outlets and hotel events and activations.
• Conceptualize promotional activities to boost attendance and participation, supporting social media activities surrounding event and activations.
• Organize pre-event and program activities, such as presentations, customer meetings, site tours and project wrap reports.
• Work closely with marketing and public relations teams to leverage hotel event & activations program through paid, earned, owned and social channels to increase visibility and attendance.
• Uphold Fairmont’s high standards of guest service, especially during events and within the day/nightlife program.
• Address and resolve any event or program-related challenges swiftly and professionally.
• Support with project/campaign award submissions in collaboration with marketing team.
• Miscellaneous assignments as required

Qualifications

Your skills include:

• Event management skills, strong understanding of food and beverage and travel, lifestyle trends, knowledge of local and national attractions and events.
• Ability to maintain and forge high-profile connections to maximize reach and return on investment.
• Adapt to changing dynamics, communicate effectively, and make impactful decisions that drive both events and the day/nightlife program forward.
• Collaborate with various hotel departments to ensure success in all initiatives.
• Continuously update skills and knowledge, especially in event management, food and beverage innovations, and nightlife trends.
• Proven budget management experience
• The communications trifecta: excellent written and verbal communication skills, highly organized and detail-oriented, and above all, a team player.
• Highly motivated self-starter capable of delivering on a diverse range of projects, often involving tight deadlines and competing priorities
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and HTML; experience in Adobe Creative Suite an asset.
• Proven organizational planning and project management skills
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends, as required.
• Social media experience in content development and execution considered an asset.
