ACV Auctions Looking for Engineering Manager – MAX Digital at Toronto, ON Full Time

The MAX Digital team supports our retail car dealer software platform providing inventory management, digital marketing, mobile applications, and other software solutions for the $350 billion U.S retail car industry. As a Director of Engineering for the MAX Digital team, this role will be responsible for development of Strategy and Operating models for the engineering team, including mentoring, and empowering your team to deliver world class solutions to software problems. You will bring deep technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, an action-based philosophy to solving hard software engineering problems as well as leadership skills to the role.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of experienced software engineers responsible for maintaining existing applications and modernizing our stack.
• Evaluate, hire, and on-board candidates based on organizational need, technical skill set and cultural fit.
• Manage short-term and long-term engagements with outsourced resources.
• Ensure that work is scoped, prioritized and assigned appropriately to meet business objectives and schedules.
• Own and coordinate the deployment of updates across all applications maintained by the team.
• Respond to emerging incidents and lead the effort to resolve any issue with direct impact to our customers.
• Continue to grow the team’s knowledge, as well as your own, of the domain and of the technical expertise required to support our business.
• Manage multiple runtime environments and lead infrastructure enhancements to support product development and business growth.
• Guide and participate in architecture discussions and system designs.
• Lead efforts to adapt, modernize and scale a market-leading software system.

What You Will Need:

• BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of software development experience building SaaS web applications using one or more of the following:
• C# (.NET Framework & Core)
• Python
• Java
• Javascript (node)
• SQL Server / MySQL
• MongoDB
• 3+ years in an engineering leadership or management role.
• 3+ years of experience using issue-tracking software (we use Jira) as both a contributor and a manager.
• Experience maintaining and extending an existing codebase, adapting to pre-existing patterns and tracing the code’s path of execution.
• Experience using and integrating with cloud services, specifically: AWS EC2, ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, SQS, SNS.
• Experience with any IaC and CI/CD automation tools.
