Responsibilities:
Location
ONSITE: This is an on-site role as the hiring team will require the student to work in the Markham office throughout the entire duration of the co-op work term. COVID-19 protocols are being strictly followed.
Program Term
- This role is a 12-month position
- May 1, 2023 – April 26, 2024
The Role
- Enhance functionality for the enterprise-wide issue management tool, JIRA
- Assist with UI Customizations of collaboration tools, Confluence
- Develop new features for Phase Gate management Tool
- Build reports that drive actions or compliance to process
What you’ll be doing
- Assist with UI and functionality customization of Confluence macros and internal Phase Gate tool and database; participate in testing of functionality for upgrades of these tools
- Optimize process workflows and identify risks to meeting user requests
- Collaborate on requirements definition, problem resolution, team decisions, and project planning
- Execute all responsibilities in a timely manner, with integrity and a strong work ethic
- Follow up with Program Managers on compliance with processes and tools
- Onboard schedules in MS Project Server for Program Managers
- Support Program Managers with troubleshooting issues with Confluence, JIRA, Phase Gate Tool and Microsoft Project Server
- Communicate with all stakeholders clearly and concisely
- Learn new areas independently and without formal training
What you’ll learn

Requirements
- Students with a focus in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering and Computer Science preferred
- Experience with Web UI design (HTML, CSS, CSS Extensions)
- Demonstrated experience with one or more scripting languages, such as Groovy, Perl, or Python.
- Demonstrated experience with JavaScript, jQuery and JSON format, Django framework
- Demonstrated experience in OOD and programming. C++ and Java programming skills are a plus.
- Experience interfacing with relational databases (MS-SQL, MySQL, JSON)
- Nice to have: Experience with Jira look and feel customization, Atlassian SDK, creating deploying JIRA plugins and widgets an asset, Microsoft Project
- Mindset for project management and software development lifecycles and processes
- Ability to grasp concepts during discussions and convey concepts visually in a process diagram
- Possesses superior writing skills and able to articulate and document concepts succinctly and to have a mindset for brevity in documentation
- Ability to communicate concepts and processes with stakeholders and demonstrates persistence in getting stakeholders to understand concepts
- Proactive, analytical, self-motivated, organized, detailed oriented and results-oriented
- Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to work well with multiple people and teams, ability to communicate progress to team members on a regular basis, be dependable and have excellent time management skills
- Experience working in high pressure environment with competing priorities and tight turnaround times
