JOB SUMMARY
The Junior Account supports AFD’s Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Billing departments. They would assist with AFD’s monthly, quarterly, and yearly fuel tax returns in a timely fashion. The Junior Account ensures customer exemption requirements are in place and properly updated in our MS Business Central/SAGE ERP system.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Gathering, compiling, and reconciling data required to complete fuel tax filings and refund requests; data mining, manipulation, and discrepancy investigation is required
- Processing returns, remittance payment requests and ensuring that refund claims are processed and accounted for in the general ledger
- Reconciling fuel tax related general ledger accounts and investigating discrepancies
- Keeping customer accounts updated and current with applicable tax exemption information and entering regional and product specific exceptions to customer accounts
- Assisting the Billing Department with invoicing responsibilities and providing ongoing support
- Assisting A/P with invoice verification, data entry, and facilitating vendor payments
- Assisting A/R with cash application and daily bank deposits, balancing A/R batches, and investigating customer account issues
- Assisting the Controller, and other internal accounting stakeholders with day-to-day operations and ad hoc reporting
- Other related duties as required or assigned
OTHER KEY SKILLS (or product knowledge)
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Excel
- Experience with Sage300 considered an asset
- Working knowledge of MS Business Central is preferred
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
EXPERIENCE
2+ years’ experience in an accounting, finance, or tax-related role
Experience dealing with government regulatory matters would be beneficial
EDUCATION
High School Diploma required
Post-Secondary Degree in Accounting, or Business preferred
