Work Location: Corporate Head Office – Crossfield
Title of this position reports to: Corporate Controller
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week – Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with a 1-hour unpaid lunch. Overtime may be necessary during month end and year end.
Purpose of Role: As a vital member of the Finance Team, the successful applicant will be responsible for:
· Ensuring key reporting deadlines are adhered to,
· Accurate and timely management of financial data
· Guiding team members in troubleshooting accounting items.
· Compilation of general ledger.
· Review and updating of accounting policies and processes.
Intermediate Accountant role is seen as integral team member the Corporate Controller will be working with on right-sizing accounting department, and over time come to be seen by Operations as a trusted ally in achieving business objectives.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
· Balance Sheet Reconciliations
· Daily cash management, from bank reconciliations to short-term cash planning
· Accounts Receivable reconciliation and Month end Statement preparation
· Fixed assets tracking and depreciation calculation.
· Lease calculations & reconciliations
· Assist with Month-end closing and management reporting.
· Perform account analysis, journal entries, working papers for external financial review.
· Back up support for Accounts Payable, and Sales Accountant
· Assist Corporate Controller with ad hoc reports, Budgets and Variance Analysis
· Other general office & accounting duties as necessary to support the Finance Department and Corporate Controller.
Responsibilities will grow as Intermediate Accountant comes to understand the business and prove their abilities. In a years’ time, the goal is for the Intermediate Accountant to be seen as trusted advisor to Controller and CEO.
Experience
· Main requirement for person in this role is they care deeply about doing right for the company and can manage expectations of the role.
· Looking for applicants with a deep history of accounting experience, combined with strong business knowledge.
· Bachelor’s degree and CPA designation are nice to have, but not required.
· Prior experience in dealership environment desired.
· Advance Excel abilities desired.
