Reporting to the Supervisor of Patient Registration at the Canmore General Hospital, this casual Administrative Support III – Registration position is responsible for interviewing patients and/or their family members in person or by telephone, to positively identify patients and obtain their demographic and financial information. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: Answer telephones, greet the public and direct individuals accordingly. Greets and assists patients and visitors in accordance with the HIM Customer Service Standards. Uniquely identifies patients, verifies and validates patient information, registers patients in ADT system after performing appropriate searches in accordance with the Provincial Registration Standards and Best Practice. Ensures completion of a variety of forms including finance forms for uninsured patients. Accesses the Alberta Netcare/Person Directory and PIN Applications to obtain and/or create Unique Lifetime Identifiers (ULI’s) and print Pharmaceutical Profiles. Ensures uninsured patients are made aware of facility fees. Frequent interruptions, juggling multiple tasks, and inquiries happening at once. Maintains a professional working relationship with other health care professionals within and outside the facility. As well as law enforcement and any other professionals that have contact with you on a daily basis. Maintains compassion and respect for patients and their families. Health Record duties or any other duties as assigned. This position primarily consists of sedentary work with prolonged sitting and typing and you may be required to lift up to 25 lbs. All candidates will be tested for Medical Terminology and Typing speed.
As an Administrative Support III, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Medical Terminology. Medical Office Assistant, Unit Clerk Specialty and/or Post-secondary education applicable to the position. Minimum one (1) year experience within the last two (2) years in a health care medical office setting or in the Admitting/Registration Department. Experience in the following multi-patient care computer systems : Connect Care, Clinibase, Excel, Microsoft Word Netcare, Person Directory, EMPI. Ability to understand and communicate effectively both in writing and verbally in English. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to work under constant interruption ,working under high stress and multi-tasking. Accurate and proficient keyboarding skills of 40 wpm.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in patient/client scheduling. Lead clerk experience in Admitting/Registration and a Health Record Department. Customer service experience. Experience in an office setting.
