The Alcohol & Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is responsible for regulating the alcohol, gaming, horse racing and private cannabis retail sectors in Ontario, in accordance with the principles of honesty and integrity, and in the public interest.

The Human Resources and Training Branch is looking for an experienced Human Resources Coordinator to provide both hands-on and strategic support to the HR team and assigned client groups. As a key member of the HR team, the HR Coordinator will collaborate with the Senior HR Business Partners and HR Management to ensure consistent and effective application of Human Resources policies, procedures, and practices, while fostering a positive and productive work environment and culture.

In this role, the successful candidate will:

• Act as the first point of contact for staff on any employment related inquiries or requests.
• Provide sound advice on the interpretation and application on a variety of HR policies, programs and procedures.
• Support full cycle recruitment for various positions including creating job postings, interview questions and assessments, sourcing candidates, coordinating and conducting interviews, background and reference checks, and preparing offers.
• Oversee the new hire onboarding process and conduct new hire orientation.
• Manage and process leave programs i.e. pregnancy and parental leave, self – funded leave, advising as a SME to staff and external stakeholders.
• Provide administrative support for the Health & Safety program. Maintain compliance with updating materials/communications/JHSC meeting minutes on the Health and Safety Intranet and Bulletin Boards. Ensure all health and safety training and certifications are valid.
• Support disability management and return to work processes.
• Administer the registration for the group benefits and pension programs.
• Prepare employment letters, announcements, meeting minutes, etc.
• Support HRIS maintenance and reporting. Ensure employee changes (e.g.: new hires, terminations, salary changes, position changes, leaves of absence, etc.) are inputted accurately and timely in the HRIS.
• Provide support for new and ongoing projects and initiatives in the full spectrum of HR programs and processes.
• Support the delivery of various Human Resources programs and events such as Service Awards, Award of Excellence Program, Quarter Century Club, employee survey etc.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Post-secondary degree and/or diploma, with a focus in HR or related field.
• CHRP/CHRL designation, completed or in progress is an asset.
• Three to five years’ of relevant HR experience working with all levels across an organization in a fast-paced environment.
• Good experience in managing full cycle recruitment, including technical and specialized roles
• Experience in administering pension and benefits programs.
• Solid knowledge of relevant employment-related legislation.
• Dedicated commitment to providing superior and timely customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, exercise good judgment and make decisions
• Superior organizational skills with demonstrated ability to set priorities, meet and manage multiple and conflicting deadlines and work under pressure.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• High level of discretion and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality with highly sensitive information
• Exposure to a Unionized environment and administering a collective agreement is an asset.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Visio), as well as a practical experience using HRIS systems.
• The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Canada and will be subject to a criminal background check.
