Apprentice Mechanic

Title: Apprentice Mechanic

Reports To: Senior Mechanics and Production Manager

Department: Mechanics Department

Salary: Based on Experience

Hours of operation: Monday to Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., occasional over-time is required to meet deadlines

Availability: Full Time, Permanent

Start Date: Immediately

Job Overview:

As an Apprentice Mechanic, your focus is inspecting vehicles, performing basic repairs, ordering parts, and taking inventory, under the supervision of our experienced Mechanics to learn the trade and advance your career.

Responsibilities and Duties:

· Following company-created checklists to inspect and test vehicles.

· Diagnose, repair, service, assemble, and maintain various construction equipment vehicles, such as trucks, trailers, and forklifts.

· Writing labor, time, and parts cost estimates.

· Testing vehicles before and after repair procedures.

· Reads diagrams and manufacturers repair manuals.

· Maintaining the workshop, inventory area, and other related areas well-organized.

· Taking engines and other car parts apart to perform inspections.

· Ensuring all Workplace Safety requirements are met.

Requirements and Qualifications:

· High school diploma is required.

· A completed certificate or diploma in Auto Mechanics may be advantageous.

· 2-3 years of verifiable mechanic experience.

· Must have a valid driver’s license.

· Strong understanding of mechanics.

· Must be familiar with both manual and automatic transmission types.

· Excellent communication skills.

· Good analytical skills.

· Physical fitness and stamina to stoop, crawl, work laying down, and lift heavy machinery.
