Alterna Savings Looking for Human Resources Recruitment Specialist (Term) at Ottawa, ON Full Time

Scope of Position*
The Human Resources Recruitment Specialist works in partnership with management and employees on the full spectrum of HR programs and services having a primary focus on recruitment and retention initiatives. The HR Recruitment Specialist develops and maintains an in-depth understanding of client business objectives, strategies, programs, challenges and opportunities by consulting with stakeholders on an on-going basis. Keeps current with external and internal issues affecting daily operations and their potential impact on the attainment of business goals and financial objectives as relates to recruitment and retention.

Major Responsibilities*

• *Recruitment and Retention

• Recommends and implements various recruitment and retention strategies including job ad creation, internal and external job postings, media selection, review of potential candidates, design and implementation of candidate evaluation tools and prepares offers of employment
• Maintains up to date knowledge of recruitment best practices, cutting edge tools, governing legislation and partners with Managers to determine current and future staffing needs, while ensuring minimal staffing gaps
• Markets Alterna to reach a broader and wider market of candidates; finding new innovating and creative ways to connect with candidates and promotes Alterna as employer of choice
• Attracts and connects with candidates using various sources, like social media platforms, LinkedIn recruiter, networking, colleges and universities, employment offices, and employee referrals

• Provides guidance on recruitment processes and techniques to employees, management and external candidates, to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
• Consults and negotiates with employment agencies to outsource recruitment of positions at all levels, as required and authorized
• Assesses candidate’s quality through reference checks reports, background checks, credit bureau and bonding
• Conducts behavioural interviews with hiring managers and/or recommends behavioural interview questions for managers
• Refers managers to the appropriate team members for issues related to job descriptions, employee relations, performance, and branch/department structure
• Participates on cross functional teams to provide direction and advice related to recruitment issues
• Other duties as assigned

Operational HR Support*

• Maintains up to date knowledge of recruitment and retention best practices, acting as subject matter expert
• Maintains solid knowledge of Alterna’s total rewards programs providing information to candidates, managers and employees
• Partners with HR Centres of expertise (Compensation and Benefits team, Organizational Development team.) to provide custom solutions to the client group’s operational issues
• As an integral part of the HR team, provides business driven and client-focused input to HR strategies, policies and programs
• Manages specific HR projects, programs and initiatives as required

• Remain up to date on recruitment best practices in the industry
• Social media is an integral focus on the recruitment strategy

Qualifications*
Educations / Certifications / Experience

• Minimum 3 years of high-volume / professional full cycle recruiting experience in a search firm or as a dedicated internal recruiter is highly preferred
• Post-secondary education in HR management or a related field preferred
• Significant experience creating recruitment strategies with a focus on social media platforms
• RPR certification is an asset
• 3 years experience in providing operational HR advice, guidance, and services to business leaders
• Computer literacy using a variety of Microsoft Office products as well as HRIS applications
