The Accountant will play a pivotal role in managing and coordinating the daily activities of our accounting department. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting principles and practices, demonstrate leadership capabilities, and have a meticulous attention to detail. This role requires an individual who can drive continuous improvement while managing complex financial tasks. This position is a temp to permanent opportunity.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Oversee the general ledger and post journal entries.
• Assist with accounts payable and receivables
• Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
• Assist in the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns.
• Ensure compliance with all internal policies, and federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
• Mentor and guide junior accounting staff.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the department.
• Recommend ways to reduce costs and enhance revenue.
• Streamline and implement best practices in accounting.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor or Diploma degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, with a proven track record in full cycle accounting.
• Proficiency with accounting software in Sage 50 and excel would be an asset.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and lead a team effectively.
