POSITION OVERVIEW
Due to current demand and projected growth opportunities, AMLB has created a new role of Virtual CFO & Director of Cloud Finance Services. The Director will act as a virtual CFO and oversee all financial management and accounting services for a portfolio of high growth clients. This includes planning, monitoring the quality and status of key deliverables, communicating financial results and providing strategic advice to set clients up for long-term success.
Reporting directly to one of AMLB’s Co-Founders (Ally), the Virtual CFO & Director of Cloud Finance Services will lead, coach and inspire a team of cloud accountants while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and fun culture. Motivating staff to maintain a high level of responsiveness and an unrelenting focus on providing exceptional customer service will be a key to success in this role. The ideal candidate will be an entrepreneurial and operationally oriented accounting leader with experience managing and mentoring a team and a proven record working with a diverse group of early stage and/or mid-sized organizations experiencing significant growth and change.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Act as a virtual CFO and oversee all financial management and accounting services for a portfolio of clients, including planning, monitoring quality and status of key deliverables, and communicating financial results to clients
Lead and inspire the virtual accounting team (starting with 3 direct reports), including: setting clear expectations aligned to business goals, removing obstacles to team success, providing ongoing feedback, conducting timely performance reviews, and providing resources and support to accelerate professional and personal development
Foster a customer-centric environment. Motivate staff to maintain a high level of responsiveness and an unrelenting focus on providing exceptional customer service
Identify, design, implement and measure internal process improvement initiatives, train staff on procedures and expectations, and provide continuous support to all cloud accountants to help scale the organization’s growth
Effectively utilize industry-leading cloud-based workflow management tools to standardize client service delivery, including templating of key client communications, accurate and timely creation of work items, and ongoing reviews
Act as the primary relationship manager for clients, responding to client inquiries in a timely manner, running effective monthly/quarterly client business performance review meetings, managing expectations relative to scope of work, proactively anticipating clients’ financial management needs, and surfacing additional service opportunities.
Collect, analyze and leverage data to help guide decision making. Maintain a frequent and ongoing client satisfaction feedback loop – leverage insights to measure team performance, proactively identify risks and opportunities impacting client service delivery

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
Possess at least 5 years of relevant experience working with high-growth organizations, including at least 1 year as a lead on client engagements – experience with cloud-based accounting platforms a significant asset (I.e. Quickbooks, Xero, Dext & WagePoint)
Think like a business owner – must be positive, proactive, and results oriented with a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude and take-charge initiative
Must possess a bachelor’s degree in finance or a related field and a recognized professional accounting designation (CPA preferred)
A creative, collaborative and empathetic leader with demonstrated experience supervising a team, delegating tasks and providing feedback, ideally in a remote work environment
Innovative, curious, future-forward and technologically savvy, with a strong understanding of the latest technology and experience evaluating and implementing different platforms to help operationalize internal systems and better manage client finances
A strong communicator who can interact at all levels of an organization, simplify complex information for different audiences, quickly establish credibility with their team and external stakeholders and influence decision makers
A solid understanding of business and accounting best practices for private enterprises, including owner-managed and early-stage high-growth companies
Comfortable building relationships and leading teams in a remote work environment
Entrepreneurial-minded self-starter with the ability to prioritize activities and stay focused on results despite changing conditions
A strategic and operationally oriented systems thinker with strong project management and problem-solving skills
Analytical and takes a data-driven approach to making decisions

Many clients are high growth start-ups at various stages. You will get to work with owners directly and have great visibility into how these companies operate (pre-revenue to IPO)
