Accountant

Apollo Cannabis Clinics are medical clinics offering its patients an accessible path to medical cannabis treatments, free from stigma. We offer effective treatments for many chronic health conditions such as pain, anxiety, sleep disorders, PTSD and more through an evidence-based approach to empower our patients to take control of their overall health. We have a team of experienced health care professionals dedicated to patient care and medical cannabis education. We are actively seeking new and better ways to treat our patients’ illnesses with medical cannabis across Canada.

We are now looking to recruit a contracted Accountant to work with our Finance Team for 6 month term. This position will be a hybrid position, working both remotely and in-clinic at one of our locations within the GTA.

ROLE: Accountant (Contracted)

Accountabilities:

• Responsible for account reconciliations, journal entry postings, maintaining accounts payable and accounts receivables.
• Set up new accounts in Quick Books for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable with correct tax codes, currency, payment terms, and contact details.
• Posting of supplier invoices in the system after they have been approved by the managers.
• Processing all supplier payments and printing cheques as per the agreed payment schedule, resolving any discrepancies. Prepare and review weekly payment list with VP, upon receipt of signed cheques ensure the cheques are handed over to managers for mailing/distribution.
• Liaising with staff who have company credit cards and ensuring expense statements are received in a timely manner and are posted in the system.
• Assist in creating monthly invoices to suppliers. Analyze and validate monthly revenue lists accordingly.
• Analyzing general ledger accounts when necessary.
• Complete posting of cheque and cash deposits for all locations, prepare monthly reconciliations in Quick Books for Banks and Credit Cards.
• Organizing, scanning and filing payment documents – ensuring orderly filing system is maintained.
• Assisting VP, Finance in preparation of month-end, quarter-end and year-end reporting.
• Ability to understand and recognize period end cut-off for AP and AR transactions and update sub-ledgers accordingly.
• Ability to identify process and system deficiencies and suggest improvements.
• Reviewing revenue and expense budgets against actuals to ensure accuracy. Work with Finance to explain variances.
• Posting journal entries for other accounting areas as and when required.
• Invoicing for various departments throughout the organization
• All other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Experience and qualification:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in finance/accounting, covering all aspects of full-cycle accounting
• Finance or business degree, or college diploma in accounting is preferred
• Strong working knowledge of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Journal Entries, Bank Reconciliations
• Payroll experience preferably Payworks
• Strong understanding of client-focused environment working to deadlines
• Knowledge and experience working with QuickBooks or other accounting software
• Fully competent with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Confident, articulate and able to work on own initiative
• Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
• Good team player able to manage own time and organize workload effectively
