Job Description
As a member of the food services team, the dietitian provides person centred nutrition care to all residents with a focus on health, well being and quality of life. The Clinical Dietitian works independently as well as interacts well with other members of the care team in order to provide quality health care and resident centred services. The Clinical Dietitian ensures that all required documentation as it pertains to the residents nutritional status, are complete and accurate.
This is a part time, permanent position, details of schedule will be provided during the interview process.
Job Responsibilities
-Assesses and develops nutritional care forpatients, focusing on maintainingpatientsquality of lifeand nutritional care inconsultation with the Physician and Interdisciplinary Team. Documents andcommunicates nutritional care plans to Food Services and Care Service Teams
-May participateinpatientcare conferences, ID roundsand acts as a nutritional resource forPatients/Families/Caregivers
-Maintains a working knowledge of and applies current facility policies and procedures
-Participates in Food Services, facility committees and educational programs. Acts as a resourceperson to professional staff, both within and outside thefacility
-Collaborates with Food Services Management team to meet departmental and nutritionalstandards
-Recommends to the Food Service Manager, programs or services that will improve and/ormaintain Resident care and/ore departmental operations and cost effectiveness
-Must work within the budgetary constraints of the department
-Ensures effective communication within the facility and the Department of Food Servicesinregarding to Clinical Issues
-Maintains knowledge of new trends in clinical dietetics via current literature and attendance ateducational sessions to enhance his/her knowledge and clinical skills
-Maintains contact with Dietetic professional organizations and organizations relating to specificareas of responsibility
-Interacts with all members ofthe Food Services Staff in order to meet overall objectives of theFood Services Department
Qualifications
-4 year Bachelors Nutrition degree from an accredited university/college
-Graduate of an accredited Dietetic Internship Program
-Temporary Registration or Full Registration withCollege of Dietitians
-Must have good communication and organizational skills
-Must have good leadership and time management skills
-Experience in a health care facility an asset
